I was suppose to do this entry a while back but kept forgetting. I know...shame on you, Miguel. So my topic for today is relating to Aerith. Have any of you seen her ghost at the church? I've been familiar with Aeris' ghost, but I hadn't known that you could see it if you went to the church after she's been kidnapped by Tseng.

The romantic part of me likes to think that it would be her ghost, but I've always assumed it was a glitch. The flashes of her image were too brief to be of significance, and if it WAS supposed to be a ghost, they probably could have made it a lot cooler.

This would explain why it's visible immediately after her kidnapping, before her death.

I thought it was cute that there was a nod to it included in Advent Children, but I had assumed that to be a gift to the fans of the game, rather than acknowledging it was meant to be there. I think they just realized it, appreciated it, realized how much mystery there was surrounding it, and decided to include it.

All of my opinions are speculative, of course, ;)

Yeah I didn't know you could see it after Tseng took her either. The only reason I looked to see the exact times you can see the ghost/glitch was because I had a hunch that it could be seen much earlier. Hunches are so cool, lol. :P ( ... )

Actually I think it's meant to be a ghost but wasn't coded right. Because I actually went back to the church with AERITH IN MY PARTY first time you can get her, just after the chase with Reno *points to icon* this last time I played through, and got a VERY brief flash of the ghost, then it disappeared. This happens EACH time I go into the church ( ... )

That too is a reasonable explanation. I guess the creators of the game assumed that we wouldn't go back into the church until after her death (which is stupid to assume that...that is if they even did) and didn't bother making the proper changes. The same thing happened to me in this game I use to play as a kid ( ... )

I noticed that a long time ago, I thought that it was a very nice touch and it was tied in with Aerith's actual influence in AC... it seemed that she could do the most only in that area... anywhere else she could only make a very brief appearance to Cloud and in many cases, he had to stop and think becuase he wasn't sure if he really saw her or it was his imagination.

Yeah it looks like the idea of Aerith's ghost being connected to the one in AC is starting to make allot of sense. I noticed the same thing. It's like the church is where most of her spirit remains that would explain why she can stick around much longer in the church.

It's a shame that the others can't see her. Do you think Cloud would share his ability to see Aerith every now and again with his friends? I know Tiffa said she knew Aerith was there for Cloud...but I don't think she can see Aerith.

Hmm.... I don't think that Tifa saw Aeris at all... I think that it was more of a 'leap of faith' when she 'somehow knew' .... intuition... meaning that there is no real tangable evidence or events, she just knew and the drop of water seemed to confirm it in her mind. So on a leap of faith, she thanked her in like a short prayer ( ... )

I've never actually seen the ghost, though I have heard that in the international version it was intentionally programmed into the game after her death. But from what I have heard it does sound like it was probably just a glitch ( ... )

The same thing with me I was a bit clueless about this ghost/glitch but my friend convinced me to do a little read up on it. Quite frankly the entire topic is quite deep, and I love both sides in this case. :)

That is true. Even if there was a similar scene in the game, there is a huge chance of the Aerith ending scene still happening. I simply adore your way of looking at these kinds of things. I totally overlooked the symbolism of Aerith walking out the door. Now that I think of it...it does resemble Cloud letting her go along with the guilt he had in his heart. The only question is...will he now focus on Tiffa? I guess we'll never know.

But yes, that scene is indeed very powerful. When I watched it for the first time, I must have been crying my eyes out, lol. It’s a very touchy yet powerful moment indeed.

Haha in my fanfictions forever Cloud and Tifa will finally admit their feelings, get married, and have children of their own...but alas, as long as SE continues the FFVII storyline I think they will always leave us hanging on the LTD :p

Yeah I think the biggest part of Aerith's appearance at the church is that she actually left...before when Cloud saw her the vision disappeared because of something that he did, but at the end she actually turns and walks away...and the fact that she (and Zack) walked out of the church I think just means so much.

I think the ghost in the game topic is interesting, but I think it isn't psychological enough for me...eventually there will be a right answer to that since it's all about data and programming, I like the good debates that will never really have a correct answer :p
