I was suppose to do this entry a while back but kept forgetting. I know...shame on you, Miguel. So my topic for today is relating to Aerith. Have any of you seen her ghost at the church? I believe the ghost appears around disc 3 (some say this is false), pretty much any time after her death. My friend called me up and asked me about it. Apparently ( Read more... )

I personally like to think it's deliberate and that her appearance before her death is as yrena says - a coding mistake.

I went back on Disk 2 and saw her. To do that you need to go to the area outside the walls of Midgar and find a guy hanging around. He'll mention a key that he lost. After you meet him, go to Bone Villiage and dig for Normal Treasure (I think), in the same spot you dug for the Lunar Harp.

This is also the point where you get something of Tifa's - her final weapon I think.

Yeah, Premium Heart. You have to have Cid in the party to fix the broken machine that attacks you in Wall Market.
That's the only chance you ever have of going back to the old locations in Midgar after you leave, the time you parachute in doesn't seem to be connected to the others. I think either you're not supposed to go back to the church that early, and they just forgot to block that part off, or someone forgot to put in some piece of coding..

Yeah, the parachute mission goes to Upper Midgar - the only way between the upper area and the lower is climbing the wires from Sector Six and that's only available on Disk One, after the Plate Crash (if you go back to the spot where the [golden shiny] wire is it's gone on the Second Disk.

Yeah I'm with you there. A coding mistake does sound more realistic. :)

Hey that's pretty clever. I couldn't figure out where to find that key, lol. Not to mention I forgot to resume the search for it when I put it on hold. I'm lame like that, lol.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. ;)

. . . I'm new, so please pardon me if someone has already mentioned this. .

I firmly believe that the ghost of Aeris is not a glitch because she will remain attending her flowers until you try and run up to her. I never ran past the 2nd to last bench so that this image would always remain flickering (I know, I am such a sap but) I loved the idea of Aeris's spirit flickering in the slums as I completed the rest of the game without her.

Furthermore, when you speak to the little children in the church, they say . . "Hey! Where's the flower lady?" Yes, Perhaps this is a "Hey, where did Aeris go and why doesn't she come back to take care of her flowers anymore" (shush, you non-romantics!) But the fact that it (the ghost) does or does not disappear in accordance to you moving towards her- makes me think that it was -Programmed- to disappear!
