So yeah today is my birthday, and I’m on my way to a dinner party with my family. Nevertheless, I decided to do a quick update, seeing as how I love this community and the loyal and awesome members within it. I would imagine it was the geostigma, if nothing else, that caused need for the wheelchair--as demonstrated by Cloud when the stigma attacks it can be crippling

Thanks for bringing me back down to earth. I needed that. I don't know what I was thinking, lol. But now...I agree 100% that Rufus needed the wheelchair because of geostigma. Not to mention that Wikipdeia quote you sent me was HUGE proof that he didn't get harmed to bad in the explosion. Thanks for sharing that, now I have a much better idea what to say in my next entry here. ;)

As for their ages, I’m not to sure either. I believe Rufus is 23 in Advent Children, making him 21 years old in the game. But I could be wrong, though as for Reno, I’d imagine he is about 24, no higher then 28. Rude looks like he is 30-34, Tseng…maybe 32-35, and I’d imagine Elena is probably 22, making her the youngest out of them all.

But I do agree that they are younger then the original members of the ShinRa Company, making them cool. There bond is simply inspiring.

I’m working on The Rufus entry now…it should be up today. Thanks again for clarifying. ;)

I have a small theory, considering on how loyal the Turks are to Rufus as well, they might have taken care of him and did a cover up story of him being dead to confuse the issue, while he was recovering. I think they'd have been the first ones up there if trouble was brewing or things got blown up. They were the first and only ones to actually catch Cloud and the gang in the tower after all, and I don't think they had been given orders.
It makes sense because other people than Heidegger say Rufus is dead, like the one guy in Kalm. I think that Rufus was originally supposed to be really dead, and they just tacked on the new story with Advent Children. Some of the continuity is already compromised, but most of it is pretty small..
So, if there was a cover up it was probably not by Heidegger.

That's a pretty interesting theory. Although I do agree that Turks were probably the first to find Rufus, the timing is still a bit confusing. Reno, Rude and Elena are in the sewers with Cloud and company after Rufus' building is hit. So I guess Heidegger called and told them about Rufus, and how he is dead. Heidegger then probably gave them the order to kill Cloud. But it looks like they weren’t really following orders, seeing as how The Turks were not in a fighting mood. So I'd imagine that they got to Rufus after he spoke with Cloud for the final time.

I still do feel as though his death was manipulated and they brought him back, I'm with you there. But do you consider Rufus crippled? I don't. But I do believe he has a sensitive body, but I'll explain more about that in my next update here. ;)
