Hi I've just joined here from an invitation from Miguel (Hi!-thanks!). Wow I've read through some of the posts here and some of the ideas/theories you have come up with I would never have thought of - especially the Rinoa/Ultimecia theory, its quite deep and I would not have thought of it before.
FF7 is my favourite FF, maybe because it was the FF ( Read more... )

Oh and we also had a debate about Rufus being infused with Mako. It was a theory I once supported, but not anymore. I think he's strong because he trained. I'm not sure if you heard that before though, but it was a interesting thought. ;)

Thank you! I'm glad you didn't get bored reading it - I know I wasn't bored writing it. I'm glad you agree with my views on Rufus also - yeah I agree he is a really talented fighter - I reckon he must have really trained hard - I think that as Junon's leader he wouldn't have wanted any SOLDIER member to out-do him (except for Sephiroth but even Rufus could accept that ( ... )

Oh as to the mako theory - i did actually see that post on the other Rufus community - I personally don't think he is infused with Mako - and that he just trained - I would imagine that he would think himself 'better' than the SOLDIER members and not to need it. And he probably also had more sense than to let any of Shinra's wierd experiments to be used on him. His eyes are quite bright blue though... but not quite like Cloud's eyes - they've made them more..shiny?

Damn I just wrote a fairly long comment and just before I manage to post it it somehow got deleted - oh its probably my fault - I was right earlier I am quite drunk - and am very tired - its about 2.30am here and am also feeling quite sick after smoking a dozen cigarettes and eating a dodgy vegie-burger and chips from some burger van outside the club I ended up going to... so I'm not in the best shape and most likely pressed something stupid - never mind i'll try again ( ... )

Rufus Shinra bio - quoted from wikipedia neo_rufus May 28 2006, 02:57:12 UTC
Rufus soon made his presence known when he had Reno bring him Cloud, who was shocked that Rufus was still alive. Rufus became one of many to have contracted the fatal illness known as "Geostigma." He attempts to recruit Cloud to act as a bodyguard in protecting him from Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz. Rufus claims that he has reformed and is seeking the restoration of the world since it was his company that so greatly contributed to its decay. However, as revealed by Reno of the Turks, this plan also involves the reconstruction of the Shin-Ra Company, which was left leaderless after Final Fantasy VII. Cloud, already hesitant to help Rufus, rejects him outright after Reno's revelation ( ... )

As for why Rufus wanted Cloud to think he was injured, I can think of a few reasons ( ... )

My internet connection at home decided to stop working so I had to wait until I got to work to reply. :-)

Wikipedia is written by fans so what is written on the site can't be taken for 100%. Anyone can create an account and edit the inforamation that's there so what's written there is a compilation of interpretations made by fans of the series for others to read.

At least most of it though is agreed upon by the grand majority of fans though! :-)

Yes - I think I agree with all that you said - I think you're right that he must have had the wheelchair before Kadaj showed up - I think Nojima says that "Rufus couldn't have predicted the arrival of Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz" or something like that. It's main purpose must have been for fatigue - he's a busy man and proud - I don't think he would/could curl up in bed everytime he felt tired ( ... )

Oh and on the Rufus community we were talking slightly about Rufus being somewhat of a dictator, though it is not a way I'd like to view him exactly - but when I posted a screencapture for someone of Rufus's statue in Junon I noticed that all the chairs were facing him - just like in the old communist countries in Europe - they always would have seats facing a statue/image of their dictator - I just thought it was interesting. Also did you know that "Junon" is also the full Roman name for the Greek godess Hera (Zeus's wife)? I wondered if Square knew this and took the name from her (I love Greek Mythology so this is interesting to me.)

So that's Rufus's statue. It looks awesome. I do remember it, though. I can't believe that I didn't stop and examine it. If only I can remember what it says when you click on it. :P

I'll respond to your latest comment tonight. I'm at work at the moment

Yeah, I think he had the wheelchair way before the SHM came into the picture. He probably did use the wheelchair for fatigue and since the man likes to work (I'll guess he's a workoholic) :-) it's easier to work and get things done in a wheelchair then it is laying in a bed ( ... )
