Dec 11, 2007 00:13

Where: Set in the streets of New Sanctum, but can also take place anywhere.
When: 11th December, 12:35pm
Notes: Well as the title suggests, this is the obligatory run up to Christmas event though it can also be known as 'the result of Darkslayer709's overtired brain and aversion to sleep. One thing to be noted is that although this is set in the streets, this ( Read more... )

If there was one thing he loathed and despised more than anything else (aside from irritating younger twin brothers who would always reserve the number 1 spot on his list of ‘top ten annoyances’) it was the cold. His job as a demon hunter always took priority over his likes and dislikes but there were times when he really wished people would deal with their own problems instead of calling him in about something that would probably turn out to be a cat ( ... )

"Excuse me?" Ashe said firmly, folding her arms and looking up at Vergil with a look of distaste.

Ashe didn't usually attend to the street-shopping, and was probably only mingling since she was killing time after a meeting, and checking out some landmarks for the next mission that was slowly coming together (part of her half wished she'd payed more attention to her original plan for her birthday rather than taking the entire evening with Balthier's company - but she didn't regret that). She was flatly, though, annoyed at the kids that kept running into her legs, the strangers whacking her this way and that with the sack lodes of Christmas gifts they were carrying, and when she'd actually chosen to clear the way for someone, he'd walked into her anyway.

So now, Ashe was facing Vergil, with a look of disdain. "I would think an apology would not be too much of a request?"

“That doesn’t change the fact that you’re still in my way.” He retorted bluntly. Any chances of the demon (if there had ever been one) still being around were slim now and he knew that the whole thing had just been a waste of his time, but he was here now and there had to be something he could do to salvage the wasted trip.

"Do you have-" Ashe started on reflex, before she halted abruptly on her words. She couldn't say 'do you have any idea who I am?' here, concidering the fact she wasn't supposed to be here on the first place - and she was Amalia here, not Ashe. Instead, a single eyebrow raised. "I recall I cleared a path for you, yet, you still managed to achieve walking into me."

Toph stared flatly into a shop window. Of course, she couldn't actually see what was inside, but she had little better to do, having slipped away from her parents when they decided to do a little Christmas shopping and soak up the atmosphere. They'd likely go crazy and have heart attacks when they realised their daughter was gone, but they'd live.

...Not that she cared, anyway.

Blowing stray strands of hair out of her face that had been irritating her, Toph turned away from the window and towards the street and crowds, folding her arms. "Christmas sucks," she huffed, to no one in particular. When you were blind, you rather lost the desire for material possessions, which was all Christmas seemed to be about. That, and having to attend all the annoyingly stuck-up Christmas parties with her parents, where people sipped expensive wine and tittered at completely unfunny jokes. Maybe she'd just head home without her parents; all this festive cheer was nauseating.

Shivering, Hermione rubbed her arms in an attempt to stay warm. Why she'd even come out was most likely to get away from the childish attitude her parents had adopted (it was all good natured - however, everyday was just a little... too much), and was now wandering aimlessly through the streets. Being as organized as she was, she'd already purchased presents she needed for her friends, but even then, she still gazed into shop windows.

And that was when she heard Toph. Hermione blinked a couple of times, before she said slowly, ".. sometimes, it seems overated."

Toph turned her blank eyes in Hermione's general direction. "Sometimes? You mean all the time. Just look around," she said, gesturing up to the elaborate decorations adorning the streets, to the people staggering about with bags and bags of gifts. "It's all a total waste of money and time, if you ask me."

Near immediately, Hermione noted that Toph was blind. She showed no change in attitude towards it other than briefly checking that no one was going to walk straight into her. She lived with ghosts and all every day of her life, so nothing shocked her much anymore. "It does sometimes seem to be an excuse for families to meet up again, which can be... nice. I think New Sanctum likes to hide it's fear behind a mask - and Christmas would be an appropriate one." Yet, she knew, that if they didn't do this, the city would more than likely fall apart.

The lights glowed brightly along the streets as Riku glanced by windows. Part of him was wondering why he had bothered to come out, but the rest of him was urging him to meet Sora and Kairi. Feeling torn apart by his emotions, Riku chose to wander about the streets. Not many would recognise him now since he was wearing the black coat he had worn while serving DiZ-

Shaking his head off the topic of DiZ, Riku looked at the many gifts placed behind shop windows. There were simple accessories, shiny jewellery, and much more. Riku sighed. Christmas brought back much memories of sharing gifts with his friends from long ago...

Would Sora and Kairi like a gift? A secret gift, because he still couldn't show his face?
...He couldn't decide, and abruptly turned away, to knock into a familiar blonde guy with a white jacket on him-

[ooc: Roxas-mun, I'm sorry I didn't get the event up but will this do? ;~;]

Roxas was somewhat preoccupied as he wove his way through the crowds; Christmas shopping was proving to be a pain. There were friends of his that were easy to please, like Sakura or Sora, but there was also Axel, who seemed so disinterested in most things that it was near impossible to buy anything he'd like. Then there was Rikku. She fell under the 'easily pleased' category, but he wanted to find something she'd love, not something he'd bought just for the sake of getting her a present.

He was so absorbed in his thoughts, he barely noticed as the other bumped into him, and automatically he was about to apologise for not looking where he was going - that is, until he recognised who it was. The distinctive silver hair, right down to the coat, there was no mistaking him. Riku had barely changed since their last meeting.

Roxas' expression of surprise and confusion was quickly hidden with a scowl. "You."

(ooc: It's fine. ^^)

Riku was slightly stunned for a minute. Gathering his composure, he glared at the young boy who was looking up to him. Looking at the nobody brought back even more memories of what he did under DiZ's command, though he didn't like it then. Roxas had not changed much since Riku last saw him.

But looking into those blue eyes gave Riku a chill. He looked...just like Sora.

"...Roxas. How has it been for you...in this world?"

"Great," said Roxas through clenched teeth, his hands balling into fists at his sides. Seeing Riku again brought up a whole range of feelings he thought he'd left behind a long time ago, like the fresh stinging of old wounds. Pushing down his temper as best he could, he continued bitterly, "Just great. I've met plenty of new friends. And forgot about old ones, too, but that wasn't the only thing I forgot."

He stepped closer to Riku with a hard expression, almost like he was sizing him up for a fight. "All that, thanks to you."

Axel sighed, as he stopped by the last shop window in the street. What was he even doing here? Christmas was entirely alien to him, yet he was out and about, trying his best to find something for both Roxas and Sakura - but his efforts were entirely in vain. Roxas? Easy enough. He'd found something pretty quick - but Sakura? He still had no idea.

Shrugging his shoulders at the shop window, he thrust his hands into his jean pockets (he half wished he'd concidered buying some definition of 'winter clothing' now - even if he couldn't strictly feel the cold), and felt someone ram into the side of him, causing him to sigh again. "Watch it, kid," he said, looking down at them with a lopsided smirk.

The moment he had heard about the finer elements of 'Christmas' from the kind girl called Rikku, Al knew that at the first opportunity he got, he had to find a Christmas present for his older brother. Ed was out job hunting as far as Al knew, giving him rare time away from his brother's side in order to find him something.

The trouble was, just what to get him. New Sanctum had a wide range of things so technical and so far advanced from what he was used to back home, but it wasn't as if he could get his brother just anything. Shoulders haunched under his coat to keep warm, lost in his thoughts, Al cringed as he collided into another body.

"Ahh.. I'm so sorry," he apologised a split second after the moment of impact, looking up at the tall redhead with what he hoped was an apologetic smile, "I should watch where I'm going..."

Axel's smirk vanished into a frown. Too right you should watch where you're going, He thought glumly. Cold weather and Axel? Did not mix. And this kid seemed to be absolutely freezing, which just reminded him of the weather around and how cold it actually was, which made him more irritable. "Or else you'll run into more red-headed guys," he said to him. "Pay more attention to them and not the shop windows in future."

"Well," Al trailed off, not entirely certain how to respond to that, ".. thank you for the advice," the strange, red headed man had a point, after all, "I'll make sure to look out for who I might run into next time," Al smiled guiltily, "..especially red headed guys." He was just glad he hadn't sent the other flying, though it would have been some feat given the height difference.

Fai walked down the streets, peeking into the shop windows. It had been awhile since they had been in a country where they celebrated a holiday like this and it brought back some memories that were painful at the moment.

He sighed as he stopped in front of a shop, blowing on his hands to warm them a bit. He looked in, smiling slightly two dolls sitting on display. Once upon a time he was sure that Sakura would have loved them, but now he wasn't so sure about it. She had matured so much in so little time.

Surprisingly, Kairi seemed to have obtain a group of girls to tag along with, though she only knew one or two by name. In truth, they were far too occupied with their own little lives to give her a second thought or include her in the conversation, or bother to let her look into things that her good friends would like (mostly of which were boys, which they also failed to grasp). Sighing, she tried for at least the fourth time to slink away from them - and almost as much succeeded, backing away from the group, and taking a few steps backwards. Smiling at her success, her pace hastened and she only turned around when she was down the next street - and ran straight into Fai, falling over onto the concrete.

Fai jumped slightly when he felt someone run into him, turning to look at Kairi. He was surprised to see her there, but after seeing the group of girls pass by he figured that she had been with them. "Are you alright?" He asked her, holding out a hand to help her up. For some reason he was glad that it wasn't Sakura or Kurogane who would have started fussing over him almost immediately.

Kairi blinked at Fai's feet a couple of times, before she looked up with slight embarassment - she didn't usually make a habit of running into people and falling over afterwards - but gratefully took his hand and pulled herself to her feet, slowly. "I'm fine," she said hurriedly, offering a smile of apology. "I'm sorry - I really should pay more attention to where I'm walking."
