Fai walked down the streets, peeking into the shop windows. It had been awhile since they had been in a country where they celebrated a holiday like this and it brought back some memories that were painful at the moment.

He sighed as he stopped in front of a shop, blowing on his hands to warm them a bit. He looked in, smiling slightly two dolls sitting on display. Once upon a time he was sure that Sakura would have loved them, but now he wasn't so sure about it. She had matured so much in so little time.

Surprisingly, Kairi seemed to have obtain a group of girls to tag along with, though she only knew one or two by name. In truth, they were far too occupied with their own little lives to give her a second thought or include her in the conversation, or bother to let her look into things that her good friends would like (mostly of which were boys, which they also failed to grasp). Sighing, she tried for at least the fourth time to slink away from them - and almost as much succeeded, backing away from the group, and taking a few steps backwards. Smiling at her success, her pace hastened and she only turned around when she was down the next street - and ran straight into Fai, falling over onto the concrete.

Fai jumped slightly when he felt someone run into him, turning to look at Kairi. He was surprised to see her there, but after seeing the group of girls pass by he figured that she had been with them. "Are you alright?" He asked her, holding out a hand to help her up. For some reason he was glad that it wasn't Sakura or Kurogane who would have started fussing over him almost immediately.

Kairi blinked at Fai's feet a couple of times, before she looked up with slight embarassment - she didn't usually make a habit of running into people and falling over afterwards - but gratefully took his hand and pulled herself to her feet, slowly. "I'm fine," she said hurriedly, offering a smile of apology. "I'm sorry - I really should pay more attention to where I'm walking."

Fai smiled softly at her. She reminded him of how the princess once was with how embarrassed she was. "Its alright." He said, hoping that he was giving her a reassuring smile. "Its easy to run into people this time of year, right? You may want to hurry though. I don't think your friends have noticed that you're not with them anymore."

"True," she laughed lightly. At his words, Kairi tilted her head to watch the group of girls leaving. "They're not... well, I don't know them, really... one of them I did, but - it wasn't much fun," Kairi sighed, turning back to face Fai. "I couldn't get the chance to buy anything for everyone, either," she added.

Fai glanced back at the girls that were continuing on, finding it odd that one would just join a group of people they barely knew (willingly, at least). "If it wasn't much fun, why were you with them?" He asked, sounding curious. "Well, now you can go buy things for everyone." He added, wondering if he should attempt to get something for Sakura and Kurogane.

"I- hm. Well, I knew one slightly, and she asked, and I... can't really turn people down very well," Kairi visably winced, a half, lopsided smile on her face. "I didn't want to be rude about it, but... it was easier slipping away," she decided. As she finished, she nodded at his second statement, looking into the window she assumed Fai must have been looking in before she'd run into him. "Where you looking at these?" she asked, flicking her head back in his general direction for a brief moment. "For a friend?"

Fai nodded slightly, a bit surprised that she had noticed that he had been looking in the window. He looked back at the display, sighing softly. "Yes, I was." He said, "I would get it for a friend of mine, but I don't have much money to spare at the moment."

"Really? That's a shame..." Kairi said with a slight frown, staring for a moment at the display of dolls. "They really are adorable," she added. No something she'd want, but that didn't stop her from thinking they were cute. "Perhaps you could try... the market? They usually sell cheaper things, or... you could try bantering down a price."

"Yeah. It is." Fai said, turning away from the window. He looked back at her at her suggestion, smiling weakly. "I don't think that will make much of a difference, but thank you anyway. I'll keep that in mind."

"You're welcome. I hope you can find her something," Kairi said thoughtfully, nodding as she did so. She then added, "Oh, I should have said! I'm Kairi. You are?"

"I hope so." Fai said, feeling a bit more confident with that statement. "I'm Fai D. Flourite. Its a pleasure to meet you Kairi-chan."

"Fai," Kairi ventured, smiling lightly, before she held out a hand for him to shake. Somehow, part of her just knew she had to shake his hand, for some reason. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Fai."

Fai took her hand, smiling back gently. He liked her, but at the same time he didn't want to let anyone else get close to him. He had already let his guard down enough. "You should go finish your shopping." He said, "I'm sure that I'll see you around again sometime soon."

A frown attempted to appear on her face, but Kairi determindely pushed it aside. "I guess I should. Yet - I feel like I should ask - would you like to... come with me?" she asked, quietly. She felt like Fai would be more company than any of the girls would be, and he seemed like a genuinely nice person overall. Even the blindfold didn't deter her away.
