Game 019 [Voice] - There's a Pun in Here...

Mar 24, 2010 23:13

With so many people suddenly dying, I was wondering: what's it like to die here, where death isn't permanent? If you've died back in your home world, what's the afterlife like where you're from?

And even if you haven't, does death seem less important, does it carry less weight here than it did back home?

It is nothing compared to respawning. The respawn time here is simply too long.

What does respawning entail?

[ There would be ellipses in here somewhere if this were a voice post. Because that just sounds like all kinds of special and um wat. ]

When someone would die on the battlefield, they would return to the resupply room of their respective base in a short period of time, usually less than a minute.

[ Either that's some super-advanced technology, or you're living in a video game, good sir. Haha irony ]

And that replaces "death" in the way that most here seem to be familiar with?

Never died.

But here, death would still be very important for me, for reasons I'd prefer not to go into over the journal system...although you might already know what they are.

Being able to come back doesn't change anything?

Considering I'd 'come back' before the Malnosso could do their thing, no. If I die, it'll be bad for everyone here.

What happens, then?

I think like... you just loose a day or something. Like, it feels like you slept all day, but it's not like I've ever met anyone who's died before.

Is that your guess, then? Or is there something to back it up?

Just guessing really. I'm trying to not make it sound as bad as it could be. I'd just avoid getting killed in the first place.

Wishful thinking?

Dying isn't a game. It doesn't matter if it's permanent or not. It still has an affect on everyone connected to that person...

Even if they're reborn.

But isn't most of its weight grounded in the fact that once someone dies, they can never come back?

In our world, people are reborn. Even after Mikage died, he came back to me. That didn't make his death hurt any less.

Have you died, then?
