Actually, the pond is not permanent--it's just a holding thing for run off, so lately it's been full because of all of the rain, but sometimes it gets very low. And the trash trucks park along side it for some reason, and they stink. But today they weren't there--maybe because the storm was coming. And this kind of weird place was beautiful.
Your story reminds me of Snow White walking through the forest with all the animals gathered around her. You must be very special and peaceful for them to let you get so close. :)
Thanks--I'm not snow white :)neva_ivanAugust 12 2004, 20:00:38 UTC
I wish I was. It did seem very disney though. But the deer wasn't friendly to me, she just seemed to size me up and decide to walk away instead of run. But it was an incredible thing.
You have an amazing ability to bring the reader into your immediate surroundings. Descriptive narrative is a gift. I think I'm going to enjoy reading your live journal. And isn't it wonderful to be able to pull some beautiful memory from a long ordinary day?
I don't know--looking back I would write more and use different words, but I was just doing a straight off the top of my head and post fast kind of thing.
That little kitten was really sweet. He's got a website now if I can just remember the url....
