Chapter 5:

By the time they finally settled down enough to eat, that, meaning Jin getting his pants on, Yamapi had received a reply from Ryo. Mouth full of food, he nearly jumped out of his seat as his cell phone rang. He whipped it out of his pocket and happily exclaimed, “Ryo-chan!”

Kame laughed, “Yamapi, it’s a message; it won’t help if you yell at your phone.”

The eldest watched the other curiously, “what’s it say?”

The actor looked at his phone and read the message before announcing to the other two, “It says ‘I’m drinking water.’”

Jin nearly choked on his drink as he shot him a look of pure amusement, “that’s it?”

“Yep.” Pi smiled and nodded, put his phone away and continued eating as though nothing had happened. Jin looked over at him with a slightly bemused look, then he turned his attention to Kame who still had an amused grin on his face before smiling himself and turning back to his food and continued eating.

-------------------

About five minutes later, they finished their meal. Kame took the dishes away and put them in the sink to wash, he looked at the elder man who was still sitting around for some reason, “Akanishi, go entertain Yamapi, I’ll clean up.”

Jin returned the gaze, “I could help you know.”

“It’s fine, you’re injured…” then he added as an after note, “and you still don’t have a shirt on.”

The elder blinked, “what does that have to do with anything?”

He couldn’t find it in himself to tell the other that if he stayed around shirtless, he’d be too distracted to do anything properly. “Nothing, go keep Yamapi company.”

“Are you sure Kame?”

“Yes.”

“Very sure?”

“Yes.”

The elder raised a brow and asked in a childish manner, “Very, very sure?”

“Yes. This isn’t a life threatening task you know, I’ll be out in ten minutes.”

Jin shrugged and smiled before getting up, offhandedly mentioning, “I know, but you could get lonely in those ten minutes.”

Kame would’ve been lying if he said that the statement didn’t touch him and made his heart flutter a bit, he gave the other one of his smiles, “I’ll live, now go before Yamapi gets bored and decides to leave.”

“Fine, but if you get lonely just call!”

“I will.”

With that said, Jin happily headed into the living room and plopped down beside his best friend while Kame stayed in the kitchen to clean up. The singer looked over inquisitively at the phone Pi had in his hands, “what are you sending him now?”

“Just asking him what he’s doing again.”

“Isn’t he practicing?”

Yamapi shot him an amused look, “you and Kame-chan always ask the same things.”

“For a good reason, why don’t you ever ask him anything else?”

“What else is there to ask him?” The other replied him with a shrug, “exactly. I think Ryo-chan would rather have this message sent to him than ‘I love you’.”

The singer nodded understandingly, “yea, knowing Ryo-chan, he’d probably bite your head off if you sent him that. By the way, you said I was the one who told you to just go and do it.”

He dipped his head in agreement, “Yea, what about it?”

“What exactly did I do?”

Yamapi looked over, a strange gleam in his eyes, “do you really want to know?”

“Yea.”

“Really, really?”

“Yea…”

“Really, really, really?”

Jin nodded before he paused and examined the other critically, “…yea…why? Did something horrible happen? Did I help you kill someone!? Or did you kill someone? Was I there to help you get rid of the body? Who was it?”

Yamapi laughed and waved his hand in his face, “No, it’s nothing like that! No one died! I just wanted to know how much you wanted to know.”

He blinked slowly, settling back down, “Oh…well tell me already.”

The younger of the two looked up and tried to recall that day, “let’s see…that time…what’d you say again…oh yea…okay, once upon a time-”

The elder frowned, “No sugarcoating it.”

Pi’s shoulder slumped a bit, “fine…”

----------------------

Tomohisa stepped into the café and scanned the area for his friend. When he looked over and spotted his friend and took a seat across from the other with a, “Hey, how are you?”

He received a very blunt “Fine” as an answer.

Yamapi shuddered a bit, feeling the frostiness of his best friend’s reply. He tried his best to ignore it by concentrating on his drink.

Jin watched as the other took a sip of his drink wordlessly, he gave the other a bored look, he knew what was up, it wasn’t much of a secret anymore. Not that the other could ever keep secrets from him, he sighed, “okay, what did Ryo-chan do this time? Or what’d you do? Or what’d you not do?”

“Nothing.” He replied, still staring at his drink, “absolutely nothing.”

The singer rolled his eyes, his friend couldn’t hide anything from him. That’d be like Junno quitting video games or Koki giving up rapping, or…Ryo being nice, nice and tall, freakishly nice and tall. “If there was nothing wrong, you’d be talking about Ryo-chan.”

He gave a soft laugh, “do I really talk about him that much?”

Jin nodded, “Yes.”

“Is it that obvious that I like him?”

And he nodded again, “Yes.”

“Then why hasn’t he noticed?”

“Because Ryo-chan wouldn’t be Ryo-chan if he noticed. But that’s not what’s bothering you.”

“No it’s not,” he agreed, “have you noticed how close he’s been getting to Ohkura-kun? I’m pretty sure they’re starting to like-like each other. I mean since Uchi-kun’s suspension, then the break up and now all this…”

“And you’re afraid Ohkura’s going to get Ryo-chan.”

“I guess…”

Jin raised a brow, indifference still apparent in his voice, “why don’t you just confess to him? I mean you like him to the point where it’s borderline obsession.”

Yamapi looked up in protest, feeling a bit flustered at the straightforwardness of the other’s statement, “I do not!”

“Right…Pi, you’re the only person I know who thinks of Ryo-chan as ‘cute’ when he’s running around mentally murdering everyone, or when he’s randomly insulting random people.”

“But it is cute!”

“To you…” he propped his head on the back of his hand, “anyways, you’re one of those few people that Ryo-chan has a soft spot for so your chances are pretty good.”

He perked up a bit, hope bubbling inside him, “Really?”

The elder rolled his eyes, “no. I’m lying.”

Yamapi wanted to retort that he’d been lying more often than not to the youngest member of KAT-TUN, but he managed to bite his tongue and stay quiet on the subject. “It’s not like I don’t want to, but I have no idea how…”

Jin sat up in his chair and looked at him with an unreadable expression before going off and explaining his plan to the other. “Alright, here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to go up to him,” Yamapi nodded, “you’re going to grab him and kiss him,” Yamapi paused before nodding hesitantly, “then you’re going to run away.”

He blinked, “what?”

The other shot him an exasperated look, “What what?”

“Run away?”

“It’s more like run for your life…Pi, think of it this way…you know how Ryo-chan’s known to be unpredictably moody and violent at times, more so lately.” He nodded, and the other continued, “imagine if he was having one of ‘those days’, he won’t spare anyone any mercy, not even you. You know what he’s like.”

“Yea…” he continued looking at his friend who looked strangely like a tactician at the moment.

“Now imagine what he’d do to you if he was having one of ‘those days’ and you decide to impulsively kiss him…when you kiss him, you’ve automatically made yourself his closest target. You’re not only risking rejection, which means risking your pride and dignity as a man, but you’re risking having your personal safety and hell a lot of other things. And I can only imagine what damage Ryo-chan’s capable of when he’s in one of his moods…for all we know…you might never be able to go to an onsen without a towel…ever again.”

Yamapi gulped at the scene presented to his brain and stared at his friend who was watching him calmly. It alarmed him how Jin had managed to say all that with the same indifferent tone. He nodded obediently, “okay, I got it. Kiss and run.”

----------------------

The next day, they were sitting in the transfer car. Just the two of them, in the back, and the driver was too busy being angry at other drivers on the road to notice them. It was a very typical day.

Pi looked over at the other, rather glad that Ryo had his headphones in his ears and wasn’t wearing that strange getup that he seemed to like so much. The one with the hat and the glasses and the slacks, the one he wasn’t as fond of.

No, instead he was wearing large sunglasses and an old denim jacket. Yamapi fidgeted and chewed on the inside of his cheek, he could feel his heart speed up with anticipation as he got ready to carry out Jin’s plan. This was it…it was now or never. He cleared his throat, hoping that his minty fresh breath was still as minty and fresh as it’d been in the morning.

He even brushed his teeth twice.

“Ryo-chan…”

The other looked over and took the headphones out of his ears, “yea?”

By that time, he was pretty sure that his heart had decided to move up and take a vacation by his ears because his heartbeat was the only thing he could hear. And before his brain could fully assess the situation, he had leaned in and clumsily covered the shorter man’s lips with his own.

Their sunglasses clanked against one another and Yamapi decided to take advantage of the other’s parted lips and ravish the other’s mouth a bit. The kiss continued until realization dawned in Pi’s mind that he could very well die if he didn’t run soon, and that Jin probably meant for a light kiss, not him raping the other’s mouth.

He pulled back and was about to escape while the other was still dazed, but something held him back when he tried to get up.

That was when Yamapi realized it was his seatbelt.

And then he realized that he was in a moving vehicle which meant that he had no means of escape in order to run for his life.

Which meant he was as good as castrated if not dead.

While he sat there, seriously contemplating jumping out of the car and onto the busy road, risking his life and limbs in order to escape, he failed to notice Ryo snapping out of his shock. The shorter man looked over and asked harshly, “what the hell was that for!?”

Yamapi looked over and smiled meekly, “…I like you?”

He could see the elder’s face heating up as he turned away with a frown on his lips, and his arms loosely crossed. “Next time,” Ryo started, several times less aggressive than he’d been a moment ago, “just say it you idiot.”

----------------------

He blinked, “that’s it?”

Pi nodded, “that’s it.”

There was a pause before Jin burst out laughing.
