Chapter 3:

Brown eyes slowly opened, it was starting to get dark out. He sat up and looked around groggily only to find himself in his living room, “hnnn? Akanishi? How long was I asleep for?”

The elder man looked over from the screen, “a couple hours. Oh yea, Ueda came over earlier and helped me make dinner so hurry up and eat before it gets cold.”

“Ueda was here? Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“You were sleeping, I didn’t want to wake you up.”

Kame frowned and argued back, “I wouldn’t have minded you know.”

“Well you looked like you needed the sleep, I was just being considerate.”

“You still should’ve said something to wake me up.”

Jin slouched in his seat, crossed his arms and jutted his lower lip out, “well I didn’t feel like it.”

The younger of the two crossed his arms in a similar manner, “you look ridiculous, stop pouting.”

“I’m not pouting.”

Kazuya felt his lips curl upwards. “Fine, I’m not pouting either,” he slumped down and stuck his lower lip out in a mocking manner. The two stared at each other for a moment before they could no longer suppress their smiles. He stood up and headed for the kitchen, “let’s go eat already.”

The taller singer hopped off the couch, voicing is agreement excitedly, “Yea! Finally! I thought I was going to starve to death!”

The other’s sudden friendliness and affectionate behavior was still leaving him baffled. After months of complete indifference, the sudden change was a little too much for him to adjust to at once. He shot the other a strange look, “if you were that hungry, why didn’t you just go ahead and eat first?”

Jin looked over, unreadable expression on his face, “because eating by myself would be lonely, wouldn’t it?”

The reply caused Kame to pause, slowly digesting the answer. Lonely? I’ve been eating by myself for the past few months now… He sat down and looked over at the other stuffing his face, he felt a soft feeling of contentment rise within him.

Was I lonely?

“Kame?”

He looked up, “yea?”

There was genuine concern laced in his smooth voice, “are you okay? Are you going to eat? You started spacing out on me.”

“Sorry,” he picked up his chopsticks and began eating, “this is good.”

Dark eyes brightened as he spoke happily between mouthfuls of food, “Isn’t it? I should think about becoming a chef.”

Kame laughed, “That’s disgusting! Swallow first! Anyways, I didn’t say it was that good, it’s edible and that’s it.” It felt strange, laughing with the other after such a long time. It felt like something being lifted off his chest, yet at the same time, it added onto the sinking feeling he felt in his stomach.

----------------------

“You’re not going to kick me in your sleep are you?”

“No! I’m older than you! Why would I?”

Kame looked over suspiciously, suddenly unused to the idea of sleeping in the same bed as the other, “what does being older have anything to do with it? Anyways, I don’t know what kind of effects amnesia might have had on you…”

The taller of the two laughed and snuggled in, under the covers, “I won’t kick, I promise! Or at least I’ll try not to…and don’t set the alarm! There’s no work tomorrow! I already told Ueda and he agreed to the idea!”

“Alright, alright…no alarm then. Goodnight.” He reached over and turned off the lights. When the two were veiled in darkness, Kazuya felt arms wrap around his waist, he tried to look over, “Akanishi?”

“You know…ever since I woke up, it’s felt like you’re drifting further and further away from me.” He adjusted his hold a bit, “I don’t want to wake up to find that you drifted all the way onto the ground, so I’ll hold onto you! This way, I’ll know for sure that you’re not going anywhere.”

Brown eyes blinked in the darkness, he let out a soft sigh, “…you’re such an idiot.”

“I know. Don’t worry, I won’t let go.”

That’s what you said before.

“Alright…”

“Goodnight.”

Kazuya shifted a bit in the embrace that he hadn’t felt in a long time, adjusting to the warmth and comfort. Wearily, he let his eyes close, “…goodnight.”

----------------------

Caramel eyes opened, the unexpected feeling of arms wrapped around his waist caused him to jolt a bit. He looked over to find the other still asleep. But true to his word, Jin had not only left him unscathed from kicks, he also didn’t let go. Kame gave a sleepy smile and undid the hands around him before shuffling towards the showers. The loss of warmth was enough to make him shiver. He suppressed the urge to crawl back under the covers and stepped into the bathroom.

As hot water showered down onto his body, he looked up and sighed, “…what am I supposed to do now?” He’s turned back to the Jin from before. Don’t tell me I still think of him that way…no, no, no I don’t. Frustrated with his sudden train of thoughts, he smacked himself on the head and stepped out. “Stop being stupid Kamenashi,” he told himself as he proceeded to change.

When he was half done, he was surprised to hear a knock on the door, who’d be here at this hour? With Jin still soundly asleep, he walked over and opened the door. “Yamapi?”

The taller man smiled and stepped inside, “morning! Is Jin still asleep?”

Kazuya nodded rather dumbly, “do you need something? Is something wrong?”

The singer shook his head, “nope, there’s no practice today so I decided to drop by and hang out with you guys.”

“At this hour? Isn’t it a bit early?”

“Well Ryo-chan woke me up when he had to leave for practice, you know, with Kanjani8. And after that, I found it kind of hard to go back to sleep so I just laid there for I don’t know how long. Then after awhile, I got a message from Ryo-chan saying “you better not have any fun without me today”, so I started thinking…what’s not fun? Or at least not fun enough that Ryo-chan would get upset over.”

He raised a brow and put on his shirt, “and you thought of Jin?”

Yamapi shook his head, “I thought of the both of you! Ryo-chan wouldn’t get upset with me hanging out with you guys. I mean, you know, you having to take care of amnesia Jin and all that, I thought you wouldn’t mind some company. You don’t, do you?”

It was Kame’s turn to shake his head, “of course I don’t mind.”

“Oh, I have a question,” he said as he raised his hand, “what does Jin remember?”

“Huh? Well he remembers all of us…I guess he forgot a couple months worth of stuff, maybe more. He doesn’t remember us, don’t ask me why, but he doesn’t.”

The elder of the two nodded, looking deep in thought for a moment, “so I guess he doesn’t remember-”

“Pi!”

The two turned their attention over to the figure by the door to the bedroom, Kazuya frowned and asked, “did we wake you up?”

Jin grinned and shook his head, “nope, I woke up and you weren’t there so I panicked ‘cause I thought I kicked you off the bed. Then I heard you two out here. Pi, what are you doing here?”

Confusion flashed in Yamapi’s eyes before he shot him a smile, “good morning to you too. No practice today. And Ryo-chan won’t let me have fun without him.”

Kame looked back over to their guest, “how are you and Ryo-chan doing?”

“Better than the apartment,” the singer laughed, “it’s terrible, it’s like the abyss of no return or something. It’s so messy. I guess it can’t be helped though, we’ll get it under control…eventually. But other than that, it’s great.”

Jin gaped, “wait, you and Ryo-chan got together?”

Yamapi couldn’t help but give a half-hearted whine, “you mean you forgot that too!? How could you Jin!? You were the one who kept telling me to just go and do it too!”

Wide-eyed and awake, the eldest began interrogating the other frantically, “I didn’t mean to! I swear! Did I congratulate you? Did we go drinking? Did I tease Ryo-chan about it? Did he go all shy on me?”

The younger two took a look at the frantic singer, eyes wide, clothes ruffled, and hair messed up from sleep. They couldn’t help but laugh at the elder’s confused look.

His friend nodded, “I’m just teasing you, don’t worry about it Jin. You congratulated me plenty and we went drinking. I got home really late, I think I was drunk, Ryo-chan was over I think, he got pretty mad at me for making him wait. I don’t remember what I said to him, but it made him stop being mad at me. He won’t tell me what I said though. And yea, you teased him about it a lot, and he told you to shut up a lot.”

“He went all cute right? Like that time everyone took turns complimenting him.”

Yamapi gave a grin at the memory, “yep! He turned into a turtle and went back into his shell.”

Jin gave a sigh of relief, “good, I did my job properly then. I’ll be right back. I’m going to go take a shower.”

They watched as he bounced off into the washroom, “wow he really doesn’t remember a thing. I haven’t seen him this carefree since…a long time ago,” Pi noted more to himself than anyone else.

Kame nodded silently beside him, “did you eat yet?”

“Sort of, I stuffed a piece of bread in my mouth on the way here.”

“I’ll make your share too then.”

“Thank you!” There was a pause between the two, only the sound of the showers running filled the air. Yamapi stiffened, suddenly realizing something, “and one more thing before Jin gets back out.” He gave a bow, “I’m really sorry!”

Kazuya looked over in bewilderment, “Huh? Why? What’d you do?”

The elder kept his gaze directed to the ground, “I know that you know about it already. But it’s my fault Jin kept cheating on you!”

A/N: This chapter seems a little strange to me. But oh well. What I've realized recently is that there really aren't enough HayatoxRyu fics and Ryopi fics out there. D: That was kind of depressing actually. Oh well, hopefully this chapter's adequate ^^;; enjoy!
