Haha, I agree.

It really almost makes me want to make a story with a girl with superpowers that has no romantic plots at all. X: Because it'd certainly be a change for both superhero and magical girl plots(watching CardCaptor right now, haha).

But...I'm also extremely lazy.

I love Card Captor Sakura incredibly a lot because while it DOES have a romantic subplot, in the end Sakura has to do shit on her own without any help at all and that's fucking awesome. I hope you're watching the original and not the hacked up abomination that is Cardcaptors, because that was absolutely vile and cut out a lot of her characterization. Among many other terrible things.

But yeah, girl with superpowers and no romantic plots would be amazing. I've kind of been toying with an idea along those lines for a while now but I've had trouble with the plot and haven't been able to get it off the ground. :/ I keep coming back to it though, so I'm sure at some point something will click.

I watched like...5 episodes of the hackjob version when it was on TV before I got too pissed to continue. The straw that broke the camel's back was when Tomoyo/Madison went 'eeww, what is THAT' when Sakura pulled her bento out for lunch(which I found quite offensive as I grew up on Japanese food). So believe me, this marathon is the original uncut version. I'm really liking it so far.

If you ever need anyone to bounce ideas off of, I'm usually free! :D I'd LOVE to see something like that. There needs to be more non-romance stuff out there for girls, I think.

YAY! I'm not the one person who watched the show! :D

I remember watching the show as a kid...and thinking back I'm pretty sure I watched the un-cut version of the series way back then.

I think it's time for a re-watch.

Women can't have plots that aren't about men!

This makes me think of that godawful reboot where Diana is "just a warrior" and then Superman teaches her to help people.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with that either, but it's also fucking stupid. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I'm so full of feminist nerd rage today.

I gave up on the show after I read halfway through the script. It felt like the show was trying to fit a round peg into square hole. Also I'm not even sure if what WW does can even be defined as 'crime fighting'; she's the atypical superhero and her window of opportunity is frankly much larger than other superheroes considering how her origin demands that she be more proactive than other normal heroes.

Also, man you did in an infinitely better job ranting on this and all did was throw a tantrum when writing about a similar topic ame up. It seems that e even if I do become angry when topics like this come up, I can't really substitute for the actual experience and everything of having to grow up with it. I know, I'm being Captain Obvious but you actually made a point while all I did was disappear up my own ass ( ... )

That's true, she does do a lot beyond just fighting crime. The problem is that the scope of that is almost all stuff that gets handled really badly in mainstream media anyway. If she stuck to mostly just fighting crime, I'd honestly be okay with that just to avoid the pain of watching them fuck up other stuff. And, I mean, I say "fighting crime" in the "goes on comic book super hero adventures" sense, so crime is a very, uh...broad term here. Sometimes crime might be sea monsters ( ... )

Usually I define crime as in hoodlums, bank robberies, pick pockets, hence why I keep going 'uhh.huh' when WW and crime fighting keeps coming up. When I first heard of the project I thought Diana was going to be running a Woman's Shelter or a charity organization. I mean that made sense right? Though their thoughts apparently didn't flow that way.

Next time, I should remember to control my rage before typing in a post instead of splaying it all over the screen.

I think there is a lot of truth to what you say here, especially given my own experiences where I have been thought of as being lesser because I did not fit into the stereotypical idea of man-liness. Restrictive is probably the best word for it given the number of people who would forsake 'vulnerability' just to look cool.

Also the ending to Digimon season 2 was THE MOST BULLSHIT, WTF WAS THAT CRAP? 8| Daisuke and Ken were obviously mean to be together. Gawd, Digimon...brings back meeeeeeemoriesssss. Also I actually really liked what I saw of the third season, I thought the girl in it was actually really well done, though I didn't see the whole thing, so who knows?
