Why does my professor have to be successful?!

I do love me some Steve Bissette, but there are certain styles which are really influencing me right now (and one of them happens to be Burckhardt) ... So I think I'm going to familiarize myself with similar illustrators a little more, and then decide.

Marc Burckhardt's class is extremely valuable. He stresses the business end of design. You're required to buy the handbook on ethical pricing, and you have to provide an invoice for every project as if it were a real illustration. It's not much fun to learn, but it's great to know.

His personality is a little dry, but I tend to like that in professors. anybody who gets a full spread in every CA Illustration Annual is definitely worth knowing.

If you just want to draw some pictures and breeze through the semester, then his class will be pretty annoying. But if you want to learn about the business of illustration, you'll be very pleased.

My only qualm is that he doesn't let you use the computer. I think people tend to depend on the computer too much, but I wasn't happy with it being completely banned.

Woohoo! Thanks... Yes. The more I think about it, the more I agree that he is definitely worth knowing and learning from.
