Why does my professor have to be successful?!

So when Prof. McEntire gave us our first assignment of finding a contemporary illustrator to report on, I immediately thought of these images I'd seen in my CA Illustration Annual. Beautiful and quirky images. But I couldn't remember the name of the artist. So I went back to the two page spread ... "Marc Burckhardt."

Uhh... that sounded really familiar. I was thinking, "Burckhardt is the name of my other illustration professor... and I think his name is Marc." Sure enough, it's him.

I haven't actually had class with him yet, since it's a Tuesday night class and school started Wednesday. But this morning, a classmate in McEntire's class warned me that getting something out of that class would be like pulling teeth, especially since I haven't taken any other illustration classes. Apparently, these two classes are more advanced illustration classes. And I did myself a disservice by not taking Drawing I or Painting I first.

Anyway, I'm guessing it wouldn't be a good idea to report on one of my other professors, so I've got to look for someone else. Ugh.

Maybe I did get myself in over my head, but I just feel like I need to take these classes. And it's not like I've never drawn in my life. I've done quite a bit of illustration, I've just never had any classes. I tried my best to learn from my drawing books growing up... anatomy, still life, etc. I'm just scared that my stuff's going to be thrown out for being too elementary.

We've also got to bring in a sample portfolio of some of the work we've done. I have NO clue what the hell to bring!
