Haruhi Season 2 Officially Licensed

Jan 28, 2010 22:07

A little more than three years after Bandai Entertainment licensed the first season of Haruhi Suzumiya & began the ASOS Brigade, Bandai has finally confirmed that they have licensed the second season! The license is notable for the fact that Kadokawa USA, the ones who technically licensed the first series & let Bandai handle the release, are most likely not involved this time around since they don't really exist anymore.

The announcement comes courtesy of the above video, appropriately titled "the Return of the ASOS Brigade! Episode 0.8888" ( get it?). In the previous video we saw some dressed up as video game Haruhi go up to a mic. I mentioned the possibility of it being voice actor/fan Cristina Vee, & as the above video shows I was right! She'll be playing the new live-action Haruhi along with a new Mikuru & Yuki for the ASOS Brigade videos. The video also features Vee singing her English version of the season 2 opening, which of course we've seen before.

When asked if she could also voice Haruhi in the anime, the Haruhi Producer replied "We'll see about that, you'll have to audition first." As much as I like Cristina Vee & think she makes a great Haruhi, it really wouldn't be fair to Wendee Lee. But maybe they're just joking about that. The subject of when the DVDs will start coming out (hopefully only one box-set as I don't see any other way of releasing Endless Eight- unless that gets its OWN release while the other half of season 2 is on another release) was amusingly left out due to "technical difficulties." Hopefully we'll be getting more answers (in the form of new ASOS Brigade videos) soon.
