Third Seed; [Action]

May 11, 2010 23:40

[Good evening, Luceti. It's just past sunset, and neighbors around House 26 might have noticed Neville outdoors a bit later than usual, fussing with an overgrown potted ivy. A wave of a wand and a cheated mumbled incantation later, the plant has grown to twice its size. From there, it's a bit of a boring magic show while he works with ineffective ( Read more... )

hermione should've supervised, it'll only crush his windpipe a little, introverts are hard to post, protecting the house, neville sucks at magic, he doesn't do nonverbal spells ever, it's just a little suffocation, they're going to need a new gardener, feed me seymour, it eats intruders, devil's snare bites back

[Creep, creep, creep. Naoya's been creeping around. But this makes him stop and look.

And laugh.

Yet he stays because he's never seen a plant like this before. He or may not help.]

[Oh you jerk. :|

Left to his own devices, Neville manages to singe most of the offending vines. The problem is his hesitation with regards to the base of the plant: he won't kill it, which continually provides it with the opportunity to continue being a nuisance. Neville himself isn't sure if he's winning or not.

He doesn't notice the creeper, though. Kind of busy and all.]

It doesn't seem like you're getting anywhere.

[Well hello there, Mysterious Voice! Where did you come from? Neville turns toward the new voice as best he can with his hands full.] Are you familiar with this genus?

[Guybrush happens to be walking by when he sees Neville struggling with the vines. Like any good hero, he decides to wave politely and offer a friendly greeting.]

Hey! Whatcha doing?

[Greeting received and duly returned. He manages a smile in spite of the bit of green snaking around his waist.]

Just some Herbology!

Herbology... [He repeats the word, slowly, watching the vines entwine Neville.]

Is that some sort of human-plant intimacy thing? 'Cause I can give you some privacy...

I'm sorry, I don't quite follow... [He follows Guybrush's accusative stare.] Oh--this--No it's not like that at all! I'm studying the behavior of some of plantlife. [Which he demonstrates by zapping a vine until it twitchily drops to the ground.]

[Aaaaaaaaand guess who's leaning out the dining room window, blinking at the plants in the fading light.]

Are you playing with them? They like to be petted, you know.

Only some breeds do, Luna... [Though he gives a funny little wiggle as he says that. Some plantlife might have just traveled someplace inappropriate.] I could use a hand getting it off, if you don't mind...

Oh, of course. [She doesn't rush getting out her wand, though, so Neville might be entirely too familiar with this plant by the time she says] Stupefy!

[Better late than never, particularly in cases like these. The second wand's blast is more effective in subduing the twitchy little thing. As it withdraws, Neville grins up to her. Thanks, BFF.] A brilliant save as usual! I do believe I owe you now.

[It's probably a good thing that you live down the road from this scythe user, Neville, because that thing can double as a massive lawnmower in a pinch. However, for the moment he's just going to stand back and watch this little display to see what comes of it.]

[YES PLEASE a scythe would be IDEAL for such an occasion! But Neville hasn't been big on meeting the neighbors and has no idea such convenient folk exist closeby. By now he's given up on stunning something with debatable consciousness and moved on to attempting to float the vines away, giving it something of a windswept look.]

[Earthlings really are pathetic sometimes. But at the same time, he has a vague recollection that this is one of the dragon brat's companions, and thus Draco would likely complain if he were to be devoured by a ravenous plant. He'll just be strolling on over now, laser scythe held ready to strike in one hand.]

You remind me that i really do need to make time to actually *play* the copy of SO4 I bought. XD nearlychosen May 12 2010, 11:35:24 UTC
["Companion" is a strong word. The ravenous plant in question is partly to be used for defense against Draco's presence, should there come a time it isn't a complete deathtrap. But for right now, he isn't actively seeking the help of others, though a bit of it has gotten itself wrapped his wand and engaging in something of a tug of war at the moment. Minor setbacks, really.]

[Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that the plant has enough consciousness to be put to sleep even with magic. Still, the effort is appreciated, and despite the tangled mess Neville's found himself in, he still finds room to smile at the attempt.] Well hello... Hermione's friend, isn't it?

I miss you. ;-; esper_flight May 13 2010, 19:14:10 UTC
[Well, so much for that idea.]

Yes, I--Stop!

[If she can't put it to sleep, then perhaps she can still give Nevile an edge, enough for him to disentangle himself.]

Miss you too! Almost as much as I miss having days off. :( nearlychosen May 14 2010, 05:17:19 UTC
[Good choice, Terra! That spell immobilizes the plant immediately, which broadens Neville's grin.] That's some impressive spellwork. How'd you manage it without a wand?
