Left to his own devices, Neville manages to singe most of the offending vines. The problem is his hesitation with regards to the base of the plant: he won't kill it, which continually provides it with the opportunity to continue being a nuisance. Neville himself isn't sure if he's winning or not.
He doesn't notice the creeper, though. Kind of busy and all.]

I've never heard of a Devil's Snare. [ He finishes the input into the COMP, and something akin to electricity will be casted on the ivy-- which may or may not paralyze it, he's never tried it on a plant before.
It's a show of compassion for the plant, because he could have easily burned it.]

[Traditionally speaking, harnessing lightning (which is what electricity does, right? That's as far as Neville's understood it) is a tool used to promote plant growth. However, these aren't exactly traditional circumstances, and the electricity works to at least displace some of the magic he's worked on it, leaving most of the vines to lie limp. Once it does so, he kneels beside it as if checking for some kind of Plant Whisper-y vital signs, not bothering to look over at his mysterious savior.] Then perhaps it's a species unique to my world.
