Sparrow frowned. "Smirking...was I smirking? You seem nervous, lad.", he said with an arched eyebrow. "I'm not taking on a British officer who will be seen as a deserter, am I?", he asked as he began to row towards the Pearl. "I mean...you do have permission to join me...you did eventually receive orders to join me on this mission? Oh, well...no worries...it won't be the first time I am involved in something to be seen as illegal.", smirked Sparrow.
"No one knows. They'll find out when they look for me." He picked up a couple of oars. "And it wouldn't be the first time I was missing. Except I think it unlikely that Mr. Hornblower would find me in a Spanish prison this time." He began to help Sparrow row to the Pearl.
"Very true. I just hope nothing happens to them while I'm gone." They got closer to the Black Pearl, and Archie peered closer. "Is the wood...actually black? I had thought it was just a name."
"Gettin' the Witch to come with us will be the easy part, mate.", Sparrow chuckled. "It's the Spaniards I'm concerned about. I don't think they will be willin' to let do of her without a fight. You up for it? It's going to be hard and furious.", smirked the pirate.
"All in a day's work for an officer of the Royal Navy. And I've been through worse. How bad can it...never mind," he finished, remembering one particularly bad battle where he got shot. Also against Spainards.
"Well, let's hope it's not all bad....as that.", Sparrow smirked.
Bringing his cup to his lips, Sparrow takes a quick sip as he hears a knock on the door. "Enter.", he shouts.
A tall gruff pirate enters. He eyes the navy officer enjoying rum with his captain and gives a slight huff. "We're almost out of the harbor, Cap'in. What's our heading?"
"Once we are completely out of port, let me know.", replied Sparrow. "Do we look to have a fair wind, mate?", he frowned.
"Eh, I'd say so.", smirked the crewman.
"Encouraging.", Sparrow sighed as he looked to Kennedy. "Fetch me when the Pearl is out of the harbor.", he said with a wave of his hand and took a generous drink of rum.
"Aye, Cap'in.", groaned the crewman...he gave Kennedy one last nasty glance of disgust before he left the cabin.

"I think it will take a while before your crew will be civil with me."
