Captain Jack Aubrey

Sep 24, 2006 17:50

Jack was thoroughly confused. All this talk about a "ghost ship" and he doesn't find out as much as a snippet. Hell. It wasn't like this was going to be terribly important in the future. However, he left Norrington's cabin without rushing- just in case that there was something else the Commodore had to say ( Read more... )

Archie exited out onto the deck, and followed his nose to the horrid smell. He ran right into the back of someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" The man turned and Archie noted the epaulettes. "Captain Aubrey, sir."

Where's he goin' off to?, Sparrow thought with a frown as Lt. Kennedy left him with the doctor and Lt. Groves. "And what the Hell is he doing with the Captain's logbook?", he mumbled to himself.

Following the lieutenant, Sparrow smirked as Kennedy ran into Aubrey.

Emerging not too long after Sparrow and Kennedy, Groves pauses, wondering which one to follow, as Sparrow makes his way toward the wardroom, he presumes. With a new bandage itching beneath his shirt, he decides to take the safe route and follow Kennedy. He needs some answers from him, anyhow.

"Lieutenant Kennedy - Good evening, Captain Aubrey, sir." He fires off a quick salute, smiles in apology, and pulls Kennedy away somewhat.

"What was it you found out, in your cabin with Sparrow? Keeping me in the dark about my own condition won't help matters any."

"I smelled something...off, and wanted to make sure nothing was being damaged, sir."

Then Groves came up, saluting Aubrey and pulling him aside, barely giving Archie time to wave a goodbye.

And then he asked that question.

Cursing his rotten luck for being the one to tell Groves this, he said, "If the witch who cast this spell is the one Captain Sparrow thinks it is, the curse will go into full effect at the new moon." A pause. "In 10 to 12 days. Sparrow will go after that witch. If we...he can't stop her by then..."

The pirate left the lieutenant and the captain to their conversation and made his way to the wardroom. The obnoxious odor was becoming stronger and stronger. Sparrow walked past an alcove with a scruffy man and his Negro assistant working away over dishes. The source of the odor.

Sparrow walked quickly past...his hand to his nose. Good God...that would kill the appetite of a starving man, he thought with a wince. Once in the wardroom, Sparrow looked about with wide eyes...wide eyes which quickly fell upon a sidetable adorned with glass. Beautiful glass filled with glorious libations. It had a bit of a feminine touch, the arrangement...the pirate hoped the ladies onboard had a hand in this...not the scruffy cook.

Crystal in hand, Sparrow poured himself a fragrant red wine. A swirl of the ruby colored liquid...a sniff...and a generous sip.

"Mmmmm.", Sparrow purred with a smile.

By luck alone, Groves manages to follow Sparrow's path exactly, and smirks slightly at the sight of the pir - privateer - drinking from a glass of wine. That he probably poured himself, if Groves knows anything about Sparrow.

"Might I have a word, Captain? Kennedy has just informed me of our.. time limit, with the current situation. I was wondering if you had anything else to add to that?" He tries not to sound desperate.

Sparrow quickly turned to face Lt. Groves. There was a touch of sadness in the lieutenant's eyes...but determination in his voice.

"Kennedy told you?", he replied with a slight wince. "Eventually ya would've needed to know, eh?" The pirate attempted a smile of reassurance but it just did not feel right as a corner of his mouth began to curl. "It's goin' to be my suggestion to the Commodore...to lock you up in ten days time, mate. It'll be for your own good...and the good of the crew. I'll find this witch and break the curse...don't ya worry."

He opens his mouth with indignant fury, then shuts it again, taking a deep breath. No amount of shouting will get him anywhere; if anything, that would only work against him. "I just.. need to know. Is this our only chance? Or will we still be able to end it, I'll just get worse every new moon we miss?"

As Groves left, Archie looked around a bit, then asked, "So...there's to be a dinner party?"

OOC: Hey, Archiekins is hungry!
