It was on the news tonight, goes into affect on Feb 10th, that any clothes and toys for infant to children, will have to be tested for lead, by a third party, which can cost around $25 to $100 a batch or item. Here is a link to the CPSC's website. They are attempting to clarify who and what exactly will be affected. I still don't like it because it means higher prices for the consumer when all that needs to happen is to for Washington revoke China's MFN status (thank you Mr. Clinton) and boycott their asses. Since that isn't going to happen and Wal-Mart isn't going anywhere we will all just have to grin and bend over like we always do.

I've known about this for at least a month now since I am on etsy.com (MellyGirl2007).
It really, really sucks for all the small businesspeople out there who ARE making the safe alternative available. So many wonderful business owners are going to have to close up shop and go out of business because of this.

I sure hope that the lawmakers see the error in this new law and reverse it ASAP so the little people won't have to go out of business.

Write to your congresspeople, your governor, local TV/radio/newspaper - get the word out.

While I DO agree to having much more strict testing on children's items for lead, I do NOT want to see it have such a hugely negative effect on the small business owners.
