What are some great natural baby products or natural alternatives I can use on my babe?  It can't be anything super expensive.  I know there are some natural baby product lines, but they cost so much!  My husband and I are doing the whole no 'poo thing and liking it, and it just occured to me the other day that the johnson and johnson, and gerber ( Read more... )

I wasn't really all that natural-aware when my kids were babies, but I'll tell you what I would do if I had babies now ( ... )

i wouldn't use any citrus EO in baby's bath... it can be quite irritating. If you do want to use it, make sure you dilute it with a carrier oil and less is more. Lavender is ok, though.

i used either jojoba oil or olive oil as baby oil :) Often w/ a drop or two of lavender and blue chamomile EO.

Honestly, i rarely used soap on my babies. They don't do much to get DIRTY... so water and a soft cloth removes most w/o removing protective oils. You could try some unscented pure castile soap, diluted, if you really felt the need. Dr. Bronner had a baby soap as well. You can dilute Dr. Bronner's soap about 50/50 w/ water and get a wonderful lather w/o the intensity (or the cost) of the pure soap.

my baby had dry skin on her eyebrows too! i just brushed it out with a baby brush (after a bath, so her eyebrows were kind of wet), and it came out quite nicely - hasn't come back yet :)

for my kids I didn't generally use shampoo or soap at all. I used coconut oil with a few drops of lavender when they needed moisture. ( the whole family still uses the coconut oil) as they have grown I have switched to a non sls shampoo ( red grape is the latest) about 1x a week and otherwise they still bathe in mostly fresh water with a few drops of lavender in it. when they get toaally grody ( as boys will) they wash up with whatever soap I have on hand, which usually is local made plain old soap. No detergent. beware of orange or citrus oils in general causing increased sun sensitivity, btw. If you are dying for a scented baby, Burts Bee's products are prety innocuous and we used their powder from time to time on chafed thighs and the like. Acidophillus capsules opened into the diaper area helped keep rashes at bay.

for lotions, i would say an oil like jojoba, avocado, or olive... or shea/coconut/mango butters. i don't have babies yet but those would be baby safe.
