You had better believe I am googling and even going to the library about this, but I thought I would look here for additional help since I know you ladies will have some info I wouldn't find on my own

Someone recently posted here or in a related community about uterine abruptions and vbacs. I think it was something like 50% are NOT attributed to vbacs.
A documentary I recommend you get your hands on: "Babyland" (it aired on 20/20 on August 22nd of 2008). The first two minutes are here, but it's fairly graphic and you do see two dead prematurely-born babies in this clip: http://vimeo.com/3008710 The documentary is about the ridiculously high infant mortality rate in this country compared with other developed nations, especially in Memphis, TN (the highest in the US) and ESPECIALLY among poor black women in Memphis. A baby dies there every 43 hours... it's crazy.
I'm sure some of the resources used in the making of that doc would be helpful for you as well.
And also from medical care that's inconsistent with what would be the most helpful, yes. But I think Tina would find it interesting anyways, since it speaks to the issues regarding how the medical establishment doesn't always meet the needs of pregnant and postpartum mothers.
Look for the home birth community here on LJ. there is also a solo birth group who has tons of research on their own.
Ricki Lake of 'Business of being born' also has updates. go to her source material. there is tons there. start w/ amazon has well. you can order it pretty cheap. she is doing a book and updating info now that unfortunately, so many OBGYN's are trying to FORCE birthing centers out of biz as they have done in parts of NYC.
thanks and i'm curious of your research when it's done!
I'm an anthro major so I obviously find this stuff pretty interesting, but this book has a lot of info and perspective on birth practices of different cultures in comparison to the United States. Wouldn't mind sending it to ya either.
Wow, if you have it to send that would be amazing! If not, I will buy it. I guess I could buy it from you? Email me if you're done with yours, altarflame @ yahoo . com

Also, a section about common birth myths would be good, if it fits with the general tone.
