A frustrating week

This has been a frustrating week. I have major computer problems--a nasty virus has infected. I got it off, finally, on Wednesday, but now I can't visit several of the websites that I desparately need to visit--Deviantart, google, yahoo, photobucket--because both IE and Foxfire hang halfway to loading them.

And, to top it off, I have three ruined ( Read more... )

hate to hear you got all those problems. wish i could give you a way to fix it, but i am not that tech savvy. but i do love the dancer picture, i hope it does get finished, but if it doesn't i'll buy it up as is, i like how it's half finished, the girl looks like she's looking at the artist, wondering what's up. good tidings to come. and let me depart by saying an alan moore league of extraordinary gentlemen (black dossier) phrase.

bread and tits to you, m'lady!

I would push on with all but the second one...not sure how to fix it without restarting either. I love the cat one btw.

I think taping the watercolor paper to a board will also keep it stretched. Of course then you can't paint the edges (I'm thinking a solid strip of tape along each edge here.) And I can't remember if I've actually tried it myself or just seen other people do it and not seen the results. Hmmm....

I am writing a fantasy novel. Exclamation on the "writer" not "artist". This is my first book and I am half way done. My problem is finding a great artist to do the cover. I love the detail you put into each painting and the style (hate cartoons, which I find way to much of on the internet). I am not able to commission an artist due to funds. I do have a publisher who is going to sell it on Amazon.com so I was hoping to find someone who wants to do cover artwork for acknowledgment (notch on their resume).

Please don't misplace my intentions, I'm not insinuating for you to do it. You like female subjects in your art and I have three male and one female characters in my novel so I'm not counting on it peaking your interest. I would just like a little help finding the right person.

Thanks.

I appreciate the compliment, but the problem you're going to have is that "real" artists generally want to be paid for their time. Doing commissions is a big hassle. Personally, I do as few as possible: I want to paint what's in my head, not what's in someone else's. "Notch on the resume" is actually kinda insulting. I know you don't mean it to be rude, so I'm not mad or anything, but I recommend strongly that you don't include that line in any further inquiries ( ... )

Thank you so much for your insight. I will try to contact some of the people in your friends list.
As far as paying someone, I'm still looking for a student or the likes of, to do the work. I really don't need a professional. I am opening up to the idea of digital artwork. Commissioning someone will be a last resort.
On a side note, It looks (by your photo's) as if your in the SCA. My wife was a few years back and was just wondering.
Again, thank you for the advice and good luck with your artwork.
