so, i tried ironing and steaming a reed to see if it got rid of the curve from being in the coil, and it worked. now it is nice and flat. for some reason it just wasn't working out that way in my head because they're round, not flat. moist reeds are surprisingly soft and bendy (i know, duh...but i've never played with them before, so it's new and ( Read more... )

so i decided to make some alterations to the original pattern to get the look i wanted. i made the front 1 inch longer, and i made the point wider. i also trimmed down the underarms and neckline.

so, in a strage twist of things, my faded green fabric (it was supposed to be dark green) is now a blue grey. oh well, it'll have to do.
