Group Brain: Please Help Kittens!

Okay, so celticmistress is a cat magnet, and has taken in two orphan kittens who look to me to be five weeks old or so. They are sick. Both have respiratory infections, and the female has some sort of urinary/kidney infection and really needs to see a vet. Like the rest of us, celticmistress is getting fucked by the recession. She can't afford a vet, and no clinics near ( Read more... )

What bank does she use? My boyfriend and I use BofA, and I know I can deposit money into his account with just the account number. Maybe she can set up a special/temporary account with her bank (or BofA), give out the number so people can go into their local branch of the same bank and deposit donations, and close it when she's finished. That way there aren't a bunch of strangers with her real account number.

If the vet or any of the vet techs will help by taking payments from multiple parties, we can all chip in as per usual. Can someone local recommend a vet that she can call? If she explains, the vet might be willing to work on price, too.

The post you linked to is locked so I am fuzzy on the details but there totally have to be ways to make this work.

I was about to suggest this - my sister-in-law is a vet and they're often willing to take random donations to pay a bill at her office.

Also, I'd more than happily funnel anything that sells from Reclaimed Whimsy over to the care of these kittens (so, basically, the whole cost of the item would be donated but I'd use the shipping fee to actually ship the item, you know?) so that'd get a little cash over there, too, and people could get something for their hard-earned fundage.

I second that she definitely needs to call a vet and actually explain the situation. Even if the vet won't cut a deal on the price, many are willing to make payment plans. That would allow time for donations and other methods to come up with the funds.

If the vet would be willing to take multiple payments from those of us reading, we could each call the vet directly and donate in her name.

The bank account idea is a good idea as well. Or is there a friend in Michigan with a paypal account willing to take donations for her?

That little female needs treatment fast. As annoying as it is, she really needs to call every vet in the area and simply explain (or email with kitty pictures) the situation. Also, if she contacts the local animal shelter and explains the situation, sometimes they have suggestions.

Is the details post friends-locked? I get a Permission Denied when I try to go to it.

Also, where does she live? I still have a job and have been saving pretty aggressively for a couple months now, so I have enough scratch (hee) that I could probably float the cost of this, and then people could send donations to my PayPal. That's assuming she can find a vet who'll let me pay by credit card over the phone...do they do that?

I second this. I was going to offer my credit card, too, but I'd prefer not to if someone else can (we're poor right now).

But I'll certainly chip in...
