Tribal Inked Cat Skull and Specimen Box

Dec 29, 2008 04:57

I have a niece that actually appreciates dead things. Do you know how few people can say that? Anyway, this is what she got for Christmas. Most kids would probably be horrified to get a cat head in a box.

*beams* I love my Kougra! I'm a little jealous of your... pet (I can't remember what it's called! It's been a long time since I've neopet-ed) because it's animated :)

It's a Cybunny. I have a silver one on neopets. I used to have a Kougra, but an unlucky lab ray zap means I'm still zapping (currently a Christmas Gelert.)

I've been on neopets over eight years, I'm not sure if I should be proud or not. =)

Would a Tide pen or similar product work on getting the spooged, runaway ink out of the sutures?

I wouldn't trust its chemical content. Who knows what's in there, or what effect it would have on the bone 20 years from now? This is why I don't use bleach, ever, or let my skulls sit in the sun.

Got it. That makes sense.

Beautiful work. You have true talent!

I have just read you post about the ethics , what I needed to do because even if I come close to understand a little better some of your ways of doing and thinking I wanted to be reassured in some way ( ... )

Happy new year! Soon! I can't wait!

I try really hard only to use animal materials -- skulls, bones, hides -- that I obtain either from other collectors or as leftovers that would otherwise be discarded or left unused. In the case of a lot of them -- like the cats, the raccoons and so forth -- they come from animals that were hit by cars and so on. The cat, for instance, obviously wasn't hunted for its pelt. It met a tragic end, and at least some part of it survived.

I don't necessarily like hunting, I'm more neutral, but it's there, and it produces things I feel it would be disrespectful to waste.
