People really are fuckers9thkviusSeptember 12 2008, 01:34:33 UTC
I adopted this little guy a few weeks ago and he is doing quite well. He is the third kitten I have rescued in the last two years or so since I moved into this place, but he is the first one I adopted myself. I have never had cats before and so it is a learning experience for me. But so far so good

The only reason I would NOT beat the ever-loving fuck out of someone I caught harming an animal that had done them no harm is either because I could not catch them, or was in fear for my own safety because frankly, I'm small. I have no doubts that I'd swing if I thought I could hit. Maybe that makes me as bad as they are, I don't know, but . . . well . . . there you go.
I'd like to think I'd get a license plate number, but I imagine these assholes were probably too far off and/or going the wrong way.
I'm glad you rescued those kitties, and kept that little cutie. Cats are fairly forgiving creatures, and don't demand much.
Another option for folks who don't have much money but are already cat owners is to donate unused food or medicine to your local vet. After five years of treatment for kidney failure finally caught up with our 20 year old cat, we ended up donating his unused prescription food and some of his medication. We also ended up bringing in some kibble for tiny kittens, as ours had by that point grown out of needing it. You can call to check, but most seem pretty happy to take the supplies. Another cat we know recently sort of had a sex change and was given medication donated by another patient - something his owner couldn't otherwise afford on top of all the other treatment. If anyone has ever gotten sample packets of human medications, you understand how much a week or two's worth of pills can be a huge thing when your budget needs a little time to stretch.
Yes, I second that. When my kittens no longer needed their baby milk and baby supplies, I donated a box of stuff to the cat rescuer at my vet's. Good woman. They were very glad to have it!
I'm going to call and ask about it. It looks like she might be going back in to the vet today, though. Received this from my mom this morning.
"She's home but she's not doing well. I am feeding her with a syringe, but she's not using the litter box. I'm going to call the vet again. She is just skin and bones and fits in your hand. I can't even describe her color- she is a pale brownish grey with long hair and an orange spot on her head. She is a little love though, and purrs when you hold her. I will just die if she doesn't make it...."

I wished I'd still had it when the kittens came, but I'm sure it helped some other critters.

Hopefully that'll be easy enough to fix. She should definitely take her back to the vet, though.
I will keep my fingers crossed for her. Poor baby.
