The number of words used to warn against clicking a link is directly proportionate to your desire to click it. NSFW gets quintuple points.

It loses impact, yes, but the people who use it don't lose their value. And I don't think that's a distinction that gets made very often. Profanity, inept or adept, is used as an easy way to dismiss people with perfectly valid opinions.

Didn't figure you were. I'm just saying that . . . well . . . it'd be great if we told people not to swear badly. Telling them not to do it at all is a dumbass thing to do.

I'm all for offering classes in middle school, myself.

Your entries always brighten my day. And no, that's NOT sarcasm.

Not to any point, but that was one of the best challenges I have ever seen. (That is, I love your icon).

Seconded, slightly, by "Only one man has ever survived an encounter with a Minbari cruiser. He is behind me. You are in front of me."

Fair and equal treatment, socially and legally, is not a "reward" for good behavior, or something we have to earn by being polite or pleasant or easy to deal with. It is something to which we are entitled by being born human.

This.

Thank you. Curiously, the flip side to this are men who seem to think that, for not being assholes they should receive gold stars or something. "I'm a good guy, I've never raped a woman, ever! Shouldn't I be commended for this?"

Um, no, buddy. You don't get a gold star for not doing things you're not supposed to do anyway.

It's funny, in a sad kind of way, how quickly men jump, in feminist blogs, to claim that we're not treating them fairly, not recognizing that they're humans too damnit...while they make arguments that only work if you presume that men are no different from dogs in their behavioral impulses.

This. This reminds me of that Chris Rock riff:

"... Niggers always want credit for some shit they supposed to do. A nigger will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A nigger will say some shit like, 'I take care of my kids.' You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker! What kind of ignorant shit is that? 'I ain't never been to jail!' What do you want, a cookie?! You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having motherfucker!"

So that whole "I've never raped a woman but some women are asking for it because if they dress like that coz men are just wired to their dicks and that's nature!" flailing argument of FAIL just boggles me.

Rape is natural, huh? I'll stick with my unnatural lusts for consensual girl-sex, anal and threesomes, thank you. It just seems somehow more civilised.

As awesome as the OP was, I'd just like to call bullshit:

"the flip side to this are men who seem to think that, for not being assholes they should receive gold stars or something. "I'm a good guy, I've never raped a woman, ever! Shouldn't I be commended for this?"

Doesn't happen. Men who express those opinions are 99% of the time prefacing some quasi digestible opinion, not looking for acclaim. That is some rectal pustule ad hominem. :)

Bullshit. Don't tell me it doesn't happen when I've seen some guy do it dozens of times.
