Hubby and I think that Christmas should be celebrated only once every two years. Annually, and it turns into a pressure-filled commitment-heavy time-and-energy draining drag. One tries to "keep the season", of course - but some [most] days that just adds more pressure. Yep - right there with you!
On the other hand, we have a dog boarding/daycare/grooming business, and in that wise, Christmastime is a Very Good Time of Year. And that's one place I can still find the True Spirit of Christmas very easily, hanging with a bunch of dogs, loving them, and making it festive and special for them, while their people are off doing whatever celebratory stuff without them. I am always most comfortable, anyway, in a pack of dogs.

I was all making with the sympathetic and growly noises, then I hit the part about your medical-grade, nubby, nine-inch, red silicone cock, and I spilled my cereal.
I'm SO SORRY you have to put up with that shit. Dear sweet Christ riding sidesaddle on a three-legged pony!
When in the name of God is the wedding? Do you have an end in sight?!

I like the idea of hanging out with a bunch of doggies. Animals are, after all, much more companionable than people most of the time.

Again, I'm so sorry. I honestly don't think I could have done it, friends or not, love or not. I mean, that's just too bitterly fucking unfair.

I've done similar things myself.
