Tiny Little Pictures!

Nov 21, 2007 00:56

I've started about half a dozen entries, and they all just degenerate into me griping about one thing or another, and that isn't how I want to send y'all into your Thanksgiving weekend. Let's just take it as read that I am bored and lonely and just want to rub noses with the intarwebz, but I have nothing much to say. So you get a meme ( Read more... )

Great post! So at the moment, I'm going to be mushy and claim this icon as my fave, which is (duh) from our wedding.

I think of this picture, and all that day meant to me, every morning during my commute to work where I have to pass that stupid fucking billboard on 91 South:

Grrr. But yay for me! NYA NYA NYAAAAAA!!! *double middle fingers at billboard*

Wow. I lived in Noho for a while and jesus, they can do this shit in Massachusetts? As in, the state where I could walk down Main St, Noho hand-in-hand with my fiancee? The state next to Vermont? I thought crap that's this obnoxious was only happening in the South.

It amazes me how backward America can be. But Vermont and Mass did get there before we in the UK did, so props to New England.

The organization that paid for the billboard is based in NJ. But... yeah, anyone who can afford to can put up a billboard. I'm kind of amused to watch this particular organization piss away its money on a lost cause, but whatever. I sent the targeted Rep a supportive letter.

And (soapbox moment) there is plenty of civil rights opposition all over the country, including New England, and certainly not just in the South. There were "Take Back Vermont" stickers all over the place after civil unions passed, for example. The constitutional convention votes were close even here in Massachusetts, and if marriage had gone to a popular vote, it might have spelled disaster.

It would be hard to imagine that billboard standing in Northampton proper, though! Springfield isn't as progressive.

Oh, that's right - I forgot about the Take back Vermont stickers, I was so impressed with the Take Vermont Forward campaign that followed. I guess that was its purpose!

Ever since I saw your Ioan Gruffudd icon, the phrase "bleeding asscrack fuck" has crept its way into my cursing repertoire.

Heh, I love the snake one.

This is my fave of mine - a Shoggoth on my head *grin*; I'm naked but you can't tell (because I cropped the pic to make it fit). There was a silly photoshoot with nudity and stuffed toys. Plus it's funny.

I've known of the bunyip since I was little from watching Dot and the Kangaroo. Scared the crap out of me.

It's cool to see someone with "bunyip" as a screen name.

Words cannot express the awesomeness of nakedness with plushy shoggoths.

No, no they cannot.

Right now this icon is my favourite, narrowly followed by KEEP YOUR GOD OFF MY BODY. It makes absolutely no sense unless you have been following the very uninteresting saga of my automotive woes, but if you have, it's funny.

This is not my most-used icon - that goes either to the elegant swept hilt that's usually my default or swordplay/foreplay, reserved for those who appreciate swashbuckling in their innuendo. But this is my most dangerously whimsical one, so it has a special charm. It came out of a discussion with zdashamber about interesting non-standard input devices, in which we agreed that a USB quarterstaff would just be the Coolest Damn Thing Evarrr. Imagine standing in a dojo in front of a picture window sized flat screen monitor running a kata to do your web surfing! And you're totally prepared for any home invasion while you're online.

Surely it'd have to be bluetooth or wi-fi enabled quarterstaff, otherwise the cable would be a bit of a problem...??

But now I want one too. [well, wizards staff, but close!]

And I LOVE that icon.

It's so random and yet . . . strangely relevant to a lot of things.

I love the rapier one, too, of course, but that's because swords turn me on. Actually, that's just "sharp things" in general.
