Tiny Little Pictures!

I've started about half a dozen entries, and they all just degenerate into me griping about one thing or another, and that isn't how I want to send y'all into your Thanksgiving weekend. Let's just take it as read that I am bored and lonely and just want to rub noses with the intarwebz, but I have nothing much to say. So you get a meme ( Read more... )

Great post! So at the moment, I'm going to be mushy and claim this icon as my fave, which is (duh) from our wedding.

I think of this picture, and all that day meant to me, every morning during my commute to work where I have to pass that stupid fucking billboard on 91 South:

Grrr. But yay for me! NYA NYA NYAAAAAA!!! *double middle fingers at billboard*

Wow. I lived in Noho for a while and jesus, they can do this shit in Massachusetts? As in, the state where I could walk down Main St, Noho hand-in-hand with my fiancee? The state next to Vermont? I thought crap that's this obnoxious was only happening in the South.

It amazes me how backward America can be. But Vermont and Mass did get there before we in the UK did, so props to New England.

The organization that paid for the billboard is based in NJ. But... yeah, anyone who can afford to can put up a billboard. I'm kind of amused to watch this particular organization piss away its money on a lost cause, but whatever. I sent the targeted Rep a supportive letter.

And (soapbox moment) there is plenty of civil rights opposition all over the country, including New England, and certainly not just in the South. There were "Take Back Vermont" stickers all over the place after civil unions passed, for example. The constitutional convention votes were close even here in Massachusetts, and if marriage had gone to a popular vote, it might have spelled disaster.

It would be hard to imagine that billboard standing in Northampton proper, though! Springfield isn't as progressive.

Oh, that's right - I forgot about the Take back Vermont stickers, I was so impressed with the Take Vermont Forward campaign that followed. I guess that was its purpose!
