'Dragonball: Evolution' Trailer

The title has changed...because apparently Fox decided that plain old Dragonball wouldn't do. Supposedly this film is coming out in April. If it plays anywhere for longer than a week I will be shocked. Several bloggers have complained that the trailer looks like crap; to which all I have to say is, HAVE you actually seen the anime? It normally ( Read more... )

Chow-Yun Fat???

It normally averages one episode of plot exposition to oh, say, fifteen episodes of martial arts matches (or, more often, ONE martial arts match stretched out over fifteen episodes).

I actually used to find this terribly comforting about this show - if I were to miss a week here and there, it was more likely than not just two episodes worth of Goku powering up.

*grins* I wonder if they realize they're about 10 years too late to cash in on this. :P

But, someone give Emmy Rossum aqua hair now! This thing has cheese written all over it anyway, so why make it look realistic? Crazy hair is more fun. :D

Well....to be fair, for large portions of the show he doesn't have it because it gets cut off (and periodically grows back o_O); he doesn't have it for most of the Dragonball Z series. But in this case, I doubt they're even going to bother referencing the Monkey King mythology at all. It would take too much time to explain why he has it to a non-Asian audience who aren't familiar with the show and the folklore that inspired it. Also, the recent martial arts film The Forbidden Kingdom references the Monkey King legend, which might have discouraged them from going in that direction.

Anyway, they've already messed up by starting the story with him as an adult rather than as a little boy!
