Pancakes are cooked in Russia since ancient times. Traditional Russian pancakes contain yeast and that is why they are soft and puffy and have clearly visible pattern of numerous pores. Yeast pancakes absorb the melted butter and become very tasty.
Yeast pancake Amount
Water 250 ml
Milk 250 ml
Sugar 4 tea spoons (2+2)
Salt ½ tea spoon
Yeast 1 tea spoon
Flour 2 cups (200 ml each)
Vegetable Oil 100 ml
Butter 50 gr
Eggs 2 pieces
Jam 100 gr
Honey 100 gr
1). Mix in a cooking pot water, milk, shugar (2 tea spoons), salt, yeast and flour.
2). Put to warm place for an hour.
3). Whip in a small pot sugar(2 tea spoons) and eggs, add vegetable oil.
4). Mix both mixtures together.
5). Put to warm place for half an hour.
6). Use ladle to put the pastry to warmed up fry pan. Roast both sides of the pans.
7). Oil by each ready pancake melted butter.
Serve yeast pancakes with jam or honey.
