Incidentally, Guitar Hero is a good start for learning to sight-play from tabs. Really.

You're serious?! I stopped playing because it gave me some really extreme visual distortions after a while.

I did notice some distortion, but I've only played a few short sessions (6-8 songs ever), and found it goes while someone else takes their turn.
