Last night my boyfriend and I went out to PetSmart to get some basic stuff and look at some prices for more expensive items. We bought some Kongs, her food/water bowls, and a place mat. First we looked at the sizes and prices of crates. I am pretty sure that a 36 inch tall crate will work for a whippet, so we will be going with the "intermediate ( Read more... )

Aggh! Really? I'm so glad you told me that. I know my boyfriend would never voice a complaint because he is excited for puppy like I am, but I think he was starting to get worried about the cost of all this stuff.

I will check ebay for sure.

Thanks for the size advice! I hadn't even thought about a car one. The airline crates are the ones with the plastic on them, right? They look like a big cat carrier?

It is so exciting getting ready for a new puppy! I saw from your user info that you are in Maryland. If you don't mind my nosiness, where are you getting your whippet from? Both of our whippets are from Maryland. Their kennel names are Shaldra and Renegade.

Have fun shopping!

It is exciting! I am really enjoying it even though I am starting to give myself stress headaches. XD

Yes, I am from the Carroll County area. I have not heard of those kennels! Do you know what area in Maryland they are located?

Thank you!

I think they are in Washington County or thereabouts--the breeders are Renee Nappier (Renegade) and Kyle Sibinovic (Shaldra). They have really nice versatile dogs--they do coursing, racing, obedience, agility, and (in Renegade's case) lots of flyball. Kyle's dogs also do some conformation.

Oh you know, I think I did come across them now that you say Washington county. They did seem really nice, as they were one of the top three on my list to consider! Yay MD whippets! XD

No I really REALLY appreciate all the advice you have given me. You have helped me with a lot of the things I was concerned about, so thank you so much!

The frozen carrots and apple wedges are such a good idea. Why don't I think of this stuff?!
