We'd like to keep the comments to vivian's entries in-character as much as possible; it's more fun that way, and more "real" for those playing along ( Read more... )

why? horrormaster18 January 16 2007, 21:44:59 UTC
why so many changes from the book to the movie? there were so many pivitol points in the book since they were teenagers that won't be there now that they're adults in the movie. and since it was moved to europe there goes the whole 4th of july scene which was one of my favorite for imagery in the book. and she works at a chocolate shop in the movie? where did that come from?

i have to agree. I was so excited when i saw it was being made in to a movie and then when the trailers hit tv. i felted somewhat hurt, it is loosely based on the book. if the movie was based on the book it would be more then characters it would be the whole story.

I agree the movie completely ruins the books whole theme and anyone who plans on seeing the movie should definately read the book first, and they'll see how bogus everything is.

Exactly. That's what I've been saying. If you're going to be all "What a great movie," then you should at least read the book and see how it's really supposed to be.

Hate to admit it but never read the book so whats it about?

Consdering I only want to see this for the reason that I saw Huge Dancy in that red velvet coat.....sorry needed time to process that thought there...shallow I know.

Does the author discribe in the book what sort of look in terms of clothes, posture his character is meant to have?

Anyone who can answer for me thanks in advance!

BTW: I am being anon because I'm embaressed about being a novice.

In the book, the characters aren't in Europe; they're still in America. Vivian is a teenaged girl, going through high school and having a hard time with it because she's different and other students recognize that but can't pin-point why. Aiden is a guy that she meets in school because one of her art prints is posted next to his poem in a school magazine (called the "Trumpet", I believe).
Rafe and the Five are the only other people who are werewolves who are close in age to Vivian, so she hangs out with them. I don't remember Rafe being her cousin, but he did try to come on to her a lot.
Vivian wasn't supposed to marry Gabriel because of a prophecy, she was supposed to marry him because she saved her mother from being torn open during the Ordeal (which was used to figure out who was the strongest male, and therefore pack leader).
There's more; I could go on forever. But I think you should read the book; the book is awesome. Unfortunately, the movie looks like junk.

Thanks miyayuki January 23 2007, 16:53:41 UTC
Thank you for saying that. She is supposed to be with Gabriel. There's a reason why you fall in love with him as a secondary character. The movie is making it all out to be that Gabriel is a bad guy and Aiden is the one you have to love. NOT TRUE!

gabriel is not at all like they show him in the trailor he is strong 24 and not rafes dad. vivian ends up w/ him in the book.

I've been roleplaying as a rther cynical and sometimes rude character as a sor tof passive agressive way of showing my disatistfaction with the way the movie has such a different perspective from the book. I see it as insane that Rafe would be Gabriel's son or that Vivian would be taken in by Astrid. I dislike that. But I am having fun roleplaying this.

I agree with this comment, except that I don't really want to see the movie.

I agree with everything you just said. Except for the first bit about role playing.

All the characters look so different than what I pictured from the book. And the part about Rafe, Bagriel and Astrid being her relatives is just so far out there. I just don't understand why they would do that.

Ok, I agree too. I want to see the movie. I'm disappointed in the changes. And Gabriel being her uncle? It creeps me out. I wonder if the writers even noticed that. But if you just want to go see it as a movie, not based on a book, it looks good. Like "Ella Enchanted" was based on a book and I mean LOOSELY because the only thing they kept the same was the characters' names. But that movie sucked anyway.

OK, enough of me rambling.

I've been playing along with Vivians LJ, and keeping the charector thing going- but I have to say, I am furious with all the changes ( ... )

Ditto on firemantis's comments.

I wonder if there will really be anyone to answer the concerns raised here...from the looks of things, the only thing the movie retains from the book is the characters names and a few relationships, mainly Aiden and Vivians. Everything else is different. Might as well have called it something else since it's not really Annette Curtis Klause's story at all.

Ugh, I absolutely agree with both the comments above me. =[ But I will continue the roleplay because it is fun.
