Mod announcement the second!

Hello Mycroftees! Not even midday yet and already a second mod announcement, what are we like?

So if you've been reading recent posts up to now you'll know that Raks has handed ownership of Mycrofting over to me. A lot of new members will probably not know who I am, but don't panic! I've been with Mycrofting since its inception (which had nothing ( Read more... )

*Waves in greeting* I love the picture, by the way :-D

I'm both a small deer (a pudu), and a student (which is considerably more stressful than the deer existence). I have long been a complete Mycroft Holmes fangirl (to such an extent that when I go to meetups I am often given a badge saying 'Mrs M Holmes') and am now equally devoted to Mark Gatiss, my favourite Mycroft to date.

*waves back* a pleasure darling! So nice to meet another devoted Mark Gatiss fan, what a lovely man he is. Incidentally I've just finished reading The Devil in Amber, so I may be posting about that soon :)

That is a gorgeous picture!

Welcome as newly appointed mod :) If you're busy with your studies I honestly don't think you should feel have to post/check in daily. Maybe have a page-a-mod mod post where people can contact you if they have questions/suggestions/concerns instead? If you have the time to check in then it's fine of course, you just shouldn't feel obligated :)

(DiCaprio in your dreams is not necessarily a bad thing by the way :P)

Well, I was up until 4am last night working on an essay, so I am quite busy! But I will be around - this looks like it might be more work than I thought it would be haha, oh dear.

(HAHAH! Poor Leo. I never fancied him in Titanic. But now he's older? Mnnnn :D )

Helloooo! We've exchanged comments, so I feel I know you a little bit. I'm Kim. I realize that's a bit confusing with the "bettie" user name. That was taken from a small craft company my best friend and I started several years back. She made jewelry and I did knitted goods, mostly purses. Brown Apple Betty is an American dessert made with apples (obviously), bread crumbs, and cinnamon. We thought it was funny to combine the idea of something wholesome with the concept of the "bad apple" and we wanted to evoke a bit of 50s pin up naughtiness so we spelled Betty the way Bettie Page did. Eh, voila! BadAppleBetties. It's become my default username, so you can find me here and on DeviantArt under it. Of course, the only problem is that people in the fandom now tend to think my name is Bettie. One could have worse problems ( ... )

It's a pleasure Kim! I hope no one actually thinks my name is Chrysanthemum - my parents aren't that cruel!

I will sadly admit that I have not yet seen Jeremy Brett as Holmes, despite my housemate inviting me to watch it several times. Must get on that. I have however seen the Guy Ritchie film and even more excitingly, one of my friends has helped make some of the costumes for the second film! I might ask her if she could write a short pieces about it, because I'm sure people here would find it interesting.

BBC Sherlock was everything I hoped it would be and more. It's actually helped me decide to move to London next year, which is something I've been dithering over for a while. You will see me in London over Easter anyway, my family lives really close by. I cannot wait!

♥ for the Buffy quote!

Oh, I highly recommend the Brett series, especially if you're a fan of the original stories. They just got everything right. One of the most interesting Benedict interviews for me (which of course I can't find now) was one in which he talked about Brett's interpretation. He had the unique perspective of having known Brett because he was a family friend. He talked a lot about the darker aspects of playing Holmes and how difficult that was for Brett, who was naturally a very ebullient person but who also suffered from clinical depression. Interesting stuff ( ... )

It's on my to watch list for the summer, definitely :) I would love to see that interview if you can find it as well - Brett seems fascinating from what I've heard of him! I remember talking about him at work before I left last month, and one of my collogues was expressing some interesting opinions on his mental state ( ... )

You will certainly see me at the party! As I've said to badapplebettie, I'll be the tall woman in some ridiculous dress.

Fabuouls picture.
I am Jenn, Sabrina is the pictured kitten- I prefer here name to my much more common one. Very new to Mycrofting.
Like the prior poster, I also grew up watching Brett as Holmes and held off watching Sherlock until recently. However, both versions are excellent, and very true to ACD's character. BC's age is every so much closer to the age in ACD's stories, and his eyes are just right. (fangirl moment!)
I also happen to have two kids who acti rather like the Holmes brothers at times, not always a good thng. And I have siblings who are signifgantly older tha. I am by seven and nine years, so I can appreciate the characters of both Mycroft and Sherlock, as well as Mummy!

Alright, dving back into lurkdom....

Welcome darling! Feel free to lurk and post as much as you like :) I used to be a confirmed lurker of the worst kind, so I know what its like!

Two little brain boxes? How do you cope?? I can only imagine! I have the most in common with Mycroft, being the oldest in my family ;)

Hmm.. How do I cope...
Ha. Half the time I let them get on with their little experiments and living in a world all their own... (though I am not so sure I'd take a head in my fridge... I might) and the other half I yell. Loudly. I am not proud of it. ;)

Hahahah, oh, I work with children a lot, I totally understand. Maybe a Mr. Potato head would be preferable to an actual, human head? ;)
