Casting in my mind

I think I've found my Draco. I wasn't looking for one. And I think he's an older version of the writer-formerly-known-as-mistful's Draco, which is more or less irrelevant to anything. (ETA: Not that mistful's Draco is irrelevant--the pairing-him-up-with-a-face-that's-too-old-anyway sort of is.)

He's Alec Guinness in David Lean's Great Expectations ( Read more... )

The guy playing Teatime is Marc Warren *points to icon* and he's brilliant. It's the role that made me his fan.

I was SO very sad when Ian Richardson died, but Chris makes a very good death replacement. (Actually I think he did it first in Soul Music, but Ian will always be my Death)

Yeah, we got to the credits and Mr. Daroga exploded. "That was Alec Guinness?!?" "Dude. You know that. We've seen this before." "Yeah, I know, but..."

I did not like the William Hurt Jane Eyre. I'd put the Stephens and Welles ones above it, at the least.

I'm not familiar enough with Pratchett to really know what you're talking about, but I understand the sentiment. As to HP, I know lots of people who directly disagree with you, but then they were probably book fans who were disappointed. I know the only character I was interested in was Lupin, and I can't stand him in the movies, so that was sad. (My casting is John Simms, actually.) I love Ralph Fiennes already and his Voldemort reminds me of Erik (well a hot Erik) so that makes me happy.

I was okay with Viggo Mortensen, though I'm not a huge fan of those movies--I was wowed by them when they came out but don't feel nearly as good about them now.

I'm completely agog at the Keanu comment. I assume you mean Wuthering Heights Heathcliff, because I don't know any other ones. But I ( ... )

Very cool Persian! I sometimes use visual storyboards, but like you not too often.

Thanks! I still don't exactly picture him in my head when I'm writing him, but if someone asks me what he looks like, I have a picture.

I almost never picture a certain actor or actress in any role in my head. For me...it's all about voices. Erik will always have a sort of combination of Charles Dance and cartoon-Erik voice. Erique K sounds rather like Dr. Steel's speaking voice. Kroenen's voice is a less-cartoony but equally fakey German Seth McFarland (shutup.) and Abe Sapien will always sound like David-Hyde Pierce, even though I know Abe isn't really nearly as...fey as he is in the movies.

My strong tie to voices is part of the reason I'm hating recent CGI movies and animated films. I don't like hearing celeb. voices that I can identify so easily. I want actual voice-actors. Bleh!

For me Kroenen's voice will always be a bit softer and less dangerous then he looks. In my mind he is definitely a combination of the book and movie one. While I disagree whole heartedly about Seth's German VO, props for you being a Kroenen fan! :)

Voice actors are my not so secret weakness. I just melt all over for guys like Jeff Glenn Bennet...I am sick of celebs doing it.

I don't know who you are, but I love you.

I've only been hearing it that way in my head because I've been reading the Abe&Kroenen comic on LJ. And that whole thing is so ridiculously awesomely hilarious that my brain automatically gives Karl a toony voice. Which is now not working in my head since Johann has actually finally shown up in the comic. I've also taken up Kroenen in an RP, so it will be interesting to find out how his voice develops in my head. <3

PS ZOMG your icon is kickass.

I'm Ana, nice to meetcha.

Ah, so you probably mean the fakey more then the Seth part, am I right? In that case I totally get it. I read Abe&Kroenen from day one, so I understand (ADORABLE.)

And thanks. I have a huge weak spot for gears, and well, masked crazy people. It's a perfect marriage.

Alexander Siddig IS the Persian. I used him for my image on a RPG waaay back. He's beautiful and talented and can brood with the best of them ( ... )

Gah, I've been getting caught up working on a Changeling game and haven't been writing down my casting choices because some need more explanation then others. But here's a hint:

Ha! You're absolutely right: that's mistful's Draco in, oh, ten years' time. *g* Minus the cravat.

I love pondering casting. One of my questions is which Asian actors would have been great in Firefly, replacing members of Joss's ensemble? I've heard him whine in interviews that he tried to cast Asians, really, but his white choices were just better. And, really, it's hard to argue with him, because his cast is utterly gorgeous and wonderful. BUT STILL, JOSS!!! Grace Park, for instance, would have made a fantastic Kaylee:

You are a very intelligent person. She would have been wonderful. I adore Kaylee, I mean I think she's the cutest thing ever. But it could just as easily, and cutely, have been Park. I'm not sure his arguments hold much water--his choices were fabulous, but can you really tell me there aren't Asian actors who'd have been as good? Really?
