Casting in my mind

I think I've found my Draco. I wasn't looking for one. And I think he's an older version of the writer-formerly-known-as-mistful's Draco, which is more or less irrelevant to anything. (ETA: Not that mistful's Draco is irrelevant--the pairing-him-up-with-a-face-that's-too-old-anyway sort of is.)

He's Alec Guinness in David Lean's Great Expectations ( Read more... )

The guy playing Teatime is Marc Warren *points to icon* and he's brilliant. It's the role that made me his fan.

I was SO very sad when Ian Richardson died, but Chris makes a very good death replacement. (Actually I think he did it first in Soul Music, but Ian will always be my Death)

Yeah, we got to the credits and Mr. Daroga exploded. "That was Alec Guinness?!?" "Dude. You know that. We've seen this before." "Yeah, I know, but..."

I did not like the William Hurt Jane Eyre. I'd put the Stephens and Welles ones above it, at the least.

I'm not familiar enough with Pratchett to really know what you're talking about, but I understand the sentiment. As to HP, I know lots of people who directly disagree with you, but then they were probably book fans who were disappointed. I know the only character I was interested in was Lupin, and I can't stand him in the movies, so that was sad. (My casting is John Simms, actually.) I love Ralph Fiennes already and his Voldemort reminds me of Erik (well a hot Erik) so that makes me happy.

I was okay with Viggo Mortensen, though I'm not a huge fan of those movies--I was wowed by them when they came out but don't feel nearly as good about them now.

I'm completely agog at the Keanu comment. I assume you mean Wuthering Heights Heathcliff, because I don't know any other ones. But I ( ... )

Orson was too pretty--but his acting is lovely, and I love him in the film. I hated Joan Fontaine. I like his character, his voice, and the visual style of the film. They wouldn't let him be older--he was always willing to make himself older and unattractive but the studio insisted that they wanted a hottie. I just thought the Hurt version fell flat for me on every level, not because he wasn't hot (I don't mind Hurt in general) but it just wasn't inspiring at all, and I didn't care about the characters. But I am not as attached as you are, though I do love the book. You'll have to argue this with tkp sometime, as she is the biggest other JE fan I know ( ... )

No, no, Malkovich is totally hot. He's like... Maybe he should have been my answer on your poll. I watched Making Mr. Right a few months ago because I was overcome with his hotness. Playing a robot.

His Valmont is like... the epitome of everything I don't want to think is hot, but is. That may be overstating it. But he's detestable and sexy all at once.

It really makes him sort of ridiculous sometimes, though. Like he can't speak any other way. I think it's one of those things that if you like it, you don't mind, but it probably grates if you don't. I think you're right about certain roles being better than others, but in at least some cases the Valmont magic carries over for me.

He's one of my favorite rp characters, actually. Valmont, not Malkovich.
