It had been far too long since he'd seen a piece of machinery when he had come back a while after his 'out of the loop' adventure, or misadventure... it could be taken either way.

Everything was so low-tech where he was, and he had been there for quite a while, that while he had been wanting to keep up some hope for being able to come back home to his friends, good God -- even his family, though he also wanted to be back with his computer and cell phone as well, because they were what kept him in touch with everyone else.

Yet, he had been stuck somewhere, in some place where all that was just plain unavailable, and he had gone through a sort of withdrawal for a while, until he resigned himself to having to live the way he had to - without any semblance of modern technology.

But now that he was back, damn was he glad.

He just hoped that nothing like that experience would ever happen again.
