you are hers to give away

Yesterday, I had four hours of database training (...no I don't want to talk about it) and in order to accommodate the timing, I ate lunch an hour earlier than usual, and stayed here almost two hours later than usual, so I was ravenous when I got home. I was also exhausted, so I thought, I'll order in some chicken tenders and all will be well! That ( Read more... )

I had a serious "Oh no" moment when it looked like Lance might have a heart attack in the hallway. (I was groaning as the show made Laurel tell Oliver that Felicity is his true love ( ... )

Yeah, they kind of fumbled Laurel's dying. I don't mind that it was her, given the trouble they had writing for her, but she really shouldn't have been talking about Olicity there.

but that's just the type of ridiculous, stupid choices this show has its characters make, so who knows.

Normally, I'd agree, but I think Katie Cassidy wanted out - or at least there are rumors of friction there - so I'd be surprised if they did that.

What a legacy to leave if it turns out she is publicly outed and a lot of the cases she worked on as a lawyer get revisited now that people know she was also a vigilante

ha! As if this show understands that her outing as a vigilante would make trouble for the cases she tried as ADA!

I know, I'm so silly! I probably also think it wouldn't be a good thing legally if she were ADA on trials of criminals she busted as Black Canary!

At least we won't have to nitpick the legal stuff anymore now that she's gone.

I'm so sorry about that treatment of Black Canary! It's awful when shows do crap like that. *hugs of sympathy*

Powerful poem!

Her last conversation with Oliver was... argh, no. I liked their platonic relationship! Also I love Olicity but IT'S NOT ABOUT THAT. And FOR REAL with Tommy, at least this week's episode mitigated that a bit. And it's a fridging - while it's affected Felicity and Thea, it does still seem very much a woman's death in service of male character arcs (Diggle and Oliver). Booooo.

But then I really liked Laurel, and I gather that in fandom I'm unusual that way. I do agree it's not the worst thing in that they seemed to struggle to write her.

I liked Laurel these past two seasons, but before that, I wanted them to ship her off to Metropolis because the writing for her was terrible. So while it might be a fridging, it's not one I'm particularly up in arms about in theory, though in execution it had some definite rough spots, as if they only way they could imagine Laurel relating to Oliver was as a girlfriend or ex-girlfriend or whatever, rather than as a vigilante and friend in her own right.
