What I'm reading Wednesday:

What I've just finished
Heirs of Grace by Tim Pratt, which is a quick fun read about a woman who inherits a house and a lot more than she bargained for along with it. I really liked how sensible and genre-savvy Bekah was.

The Crown of Ptolemy by Rick Riordan, which is another short story featuring Sadie and Carter Kane ( Read more... )

Gullstruck Island was ASTONISHING. I read it a few years ago and it was one of those "I have to post about this and tell everybody how brilliant this is" books.

It really was stunning. I'd read other books by Hardinge, but Gullstruck Island was like a whole level up.

Yeah, I read that one first so it spoiled me for her other books, I fear. (But they were still darned good books.)

Yeah, I've really enjoyed the other books, but from a writing and plotting standpoint, Gullstruck has been the best.

I was onboard about needing some kind of delivery convoy until I realized there were only four or five rogues. Seriously, knock them out and deliver them individually at Flash speed. But I love Snart so I went with it.

I did not expect that to happen to Lowell! Once Liv finds out what's happening to Major, I hope she finally lets him in on what's going on because at this point his life depends on it.

Yeah, it was an unnecessarily complicated plan that of course was going to go wrong. And I get that it needed to go wrong for plot purposes, but come on. Try to be a little smarter, Barry!

I really do hope they let Major in on the secret, because yeah, not knowing is going to get him killed.

that was my exact reaction to lowell too! HOLY SHIT. and then YOU CAN'T BE DEAD. except he probably is. :( and right after his little breakdown and his and liv's reconciliation, too. i was very emotional.

major definitely needs to be let in on the zombie secret. it might actually stop him from doing so much dumb shit. and he'll have some answers about the missing/dead kid whose name i am completely blanking on. >.<

two thumbs up for ravi not being a zombie! also, him trying to get major out of his room by tempting him with video games was completely adorable. they're so cute.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure Lowell is dead. Which was definitely a surprise, though I'm glad he was genuinely apologetic instead of a plant by Blaine.

And yes, Major needs to be let in on the secret at least partially. because he's going to get himself killed, too.

Ravi is the most adorable! I need to get an icon.

Seriously, Major needs to be let in on the secret that zombies exist, even if they don't tell him that Liv is one (though I'm pretty sure he could guess).

I really do hope she has a chat with the police lieutenant and gets him on her side and they turn on Blaine together.

I didn't like The Flash episode either, for the reasons you mentioned. There were plot holes galore. I think the reason they didn't try to have Barry run each criminal to the plane was because they had to get them out of Star Labs by a particular time. But that's not a good enough reason because ( ... )

No, it's not, because the time it took Barry to track down Cold etc. etc. could have been spent drugging them and running them to the airport. Or something. It should have taken more than five minutes in total once they were knocked out.

It was just a mess of an episode, which is unfortunate for the penultimate episode of the season.

If that detective loves Iris so much, why did he just blow her off? So he learned from Dr. Wells that Iris marries Barry in the future. Futures can be changed. And hey, remember you're hearing this news from a sociopath who kidnapped you and held you for two weeks in an underground lair? Don't take his word for it. Fight for Iris!Yeah, Eddie gave up way too easily, but on the plus side, maybe they'll quit it with the awful love triangle stuff now. I would be so happy if they just start season 2 with Barry and Iris as ( ... )
