I liked it. I agree that it ends weirdly -- it begs for a sequel -- but hopefully, it hits its target gross/profit that we get a 5th one. Surely, that would have Matt Damon there because Jason Bourne will not let Pam be branded as a villain and have the others go free.
I agree with all your points. I think the movie's strength was that it took cardboard characters from the other three movies (ie: all the other super soldiers they sent after Bourne) and turned them into real people/a real character.
Additionally, I really liked that the plot was so straightforward. The last two Bourne movies were EXCELLENT, but also suffered from the "but, why...?" problem where they're about these uber complicated cover ups that kind of fall apart when you're like, "But there's a much simpler way to cover things up..."
Yeah, I thought it did well with making the others people before it killed them off. Well, except that last guy.

I get that they were going to compromise some ops and lose intel etc. but sometimes you've just got to burn it to the ground and start over. That sounds really awful, but that is what I expected from the other guys, not just Ed Norton's character.
I loved it, basically for the same reasons you mentioned. I marathoned the 1st three movies last weekend and was so glad I did! I liked how they intertwined this movie with the events of the 3rd one, and I wouldn't have remembered half of what went on if I hadn't.
Yeah, I had vague recollections of what happened, enough that I wasn't lost, but I'm not sure how people who hadn't seen any of the prior movies understood it.
I loved loved loved the storytelling choices they made. Like, in the first three films, it's all about Jason being completely terrified by his abilities and who he is (and ultimately rejecting it). Whereas with Aaron, it's about not going back to who he was, and doign everything he can to hang onto his abilities and sense of self he gained from the programme. And I love his curiosity and his constant chatter--he's the polar opposite of Jason, who had to have words pried out of him

Yeah, I really liked that they sort of made Aaron's story and character the polar opposite of Jason's.
I really really wish we'd got the scene in teh trailer where he was all "I'm more than just a science project" and I wish we could have had a scene in the motel before he gives her her new legend, where she actually asks his name and he gives it. Because names mean something in this franchise.
Oh, that would have been awesome. Maybe in the deleted scenes? I guess that can be what fic is for, too.
I loved her just holding him when he was trying to give her an out, and you get the feeling this was the most significant human contact in his life, yet he was willing to let her go. But she was the one holding on.*nod nod

YES. When they connected, when he made her own up to her ethics, that's when the whole film and the characters became awesome.

Here's hoping they get a sequel!
