i thought of you last night when peter was talking about baseball as art. he and neal arguing their respective points was really nice. i also figured any yankees fans who were watching were probably besides themselves with squee.... i thought the signature on peter's rookie card looked like it said "dekay" rather than "burke", but i didn't know tim played in the minor leagues! how cool is that?
i love that mozzie had SUCH A CRUSH on taylor. there's someone out there slicker than neal! go fig. and mozzie's more of an imp than a devil on neal's shoulder, hee.
sara was totally shoehorned in. i didn't buy that she sat neal down and they had what sounded like a few hours of honest talk about each other. (partly because i find it hard to believe neal can be totally and believably honest with anyone, never mind for more than an hour.) i think the ptb are trying to make her fit where there isn't really space for her. which is a bummer, because they're so good with el and diana and the occasional glimpses of june.

I really enjoyed that but OMG NOT EVERYBODY IS A YANKEES FAN, PETER. UGH.
RIGHT? I had VERY SIMILAR thoughts--I would have enjoyed that a lot more if it had been ANY OTHER TEAM. (Also the whole thing felt so much like a commercial for the new Yankee Stadium, which ALSO annoyed me. I would have had an easier time with the nostalgia angle if it had been filmed at a ballpark that actually had some history, though obviously the museum pieces WOULD be very cool regardless--it's hard to be unmoved by Joe DiMaggio's hit streak bat--and even more so if you're a Yankees fan. But still. I wanted to be able to wholeheartedly enjoy it and I couldn't quite.)

ME TOO. I mean, it felt a bit contrived--down to the Field-of-Dreams-ripoff soundtrack--but I really really loved the sentiment of it.

Yeah, I might have also yelled "THAT IS NOT THE HOUSE THAT RUTH BUILT" at the tv. *cough*
