but where I live the game to play is compromise solution

Oh my god, sometimes Dinosaur Comics makes my day so much brighter. *dies*

Okay, so I get that Pinboard costs money, which makes it less appealing and useable for a lot of fans. My reason for preferring it to Diigo is that I actually find the ugly interface easier to use than Diigo's, and also, by paying for a service, I actually become the ( Read more... )

it's like they WANT us to save 10,000 bookmarks of wildly explicit furry chan and tag it as YA NOVELS or something.

Who, Diigo? It seems like a ridiculous policy to me, but if that's what it is, I don't see them being a good place for fandom to move en masse.

Thank you for the links!

I'm leaning heavily towards Pinboard, but at the moment not touching what I've imported b/c the Delicious exported without dates (a "bug" on their side).

The way I look at it, $10 a month might be prohibitive, but a $10 buy in is worth it, at least to me.

I agree that $10 is worth it, but there are a lot of people for whom even a one-time payment of $10 is out of reach. I think there's the possibility of fandom collecting some money to buy some people accounts, but that won't always be possible.

And yeah, my import of my fic index to Diigo was completely random because of that date bug. Ugh. So useless.

From the rageprufrock" podcast, the price goes up with more users, which is sad, but yeah, I think the collection is a good idea and will probably happen. That's just the kind of people that fandom attracts (or so I've seen over the last decade and more).

I'm unemployed, am not in dire straits, but am watching pennies. For me it's worth it (largely b/c I'm using time to catch up on reading that I couldn't do while in school), but I am by no means unaware of the reality. I knew what you meant. I just wanted to be super extra special clear that I understand that the cost is a barrier to a lot of people.
