Last night, I had a spur of the moment dinner with marksykins and mousapelli at Bubby's. There was really good cheese macaroni, and there was super tasty key lime pie. Mmm...pie... Also, fangirls who are awesome and who I hadn't seen in far too long! So that was good ( Read more... )

Hey, I just loved your personal history... reminds me of any good friendship or love story. I was oh so late to the Supernatural party but fell hard during that same moment in the pilot. I'm not sure I've ever loved a show so much.

Thanks! I can't believe it's been four years. I still laugh at how I expected SPN to be this distraction while I was waiting for Studio 60, and four years later, it's still my main show, and Studio 60 failed completely.

I don't think I've ever loved a show the same way I love SPN. It's different from how I love BtVS or West Wing or Homicide. I can't explain it, but it's definitely different.

My biggest regret is that I didn't discover it sooner. But X-Files had broken my heart big-time (this really does sound like a relationship, doesn't it?) and Supernatural sounded like an X-Files wannabe, which I so didn't want.

But the scary part of the show is just not what it's about. So glad you still love it, even after four years. &hearts

I still hold to all of my selling points, for the record. Supernatural, my little show that should not be allowed to break my heart this way. ♥

Dude. I think you used that exact promo shot in your icon to sway me, and I was just like, he is very pretty, but the show looks kinda dumb. *g*

It totally shouldn't be able to break my heart the way it does and yet.... *hands* BOYS! ♥

Supernatural was my "I never thought I'd like it series" as well. I don't generally like horror. The situation was complicated by the fact that my husband was hypersensitive to any sort of violence. I had to tape Buffy and Angel and Lost and make sure I watched them while he was engaged in his hobbies or get up at 4:00 am so that he didn't wander by and tell me how sick (in the bad way) and disgusting the show I was watching was. Then we divorced. My first big decision was to subscribe to Netflix. I had been hearing good things about Supernatural on my flist and so as soon as it was available, I rented it. I mainlined season one just in time for IMTOD. The rest is history. I have been hooked ever since.

I think it helps a lot that I almost never find it scary. And that regardless of whatever other flaws the show has, they almost always get the Sam and Dean relationship right.

I had no idea, the summer after the first season of SPN, when I caught the pilot (and didn't even realize it was a pilot, unlike a lot of shows it didn't scream first ep) how much I would love SPN.

Your story is pretty similar to mine. I didn't watch the first season of Supernatural live, I just kept seeing my flist raving about it. But the show sounded so dumb to me, and I honestly didn't think that Sam and Dean were even pretty, LOL. But then during the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2 a good friend of mine convinced me to give it a try; she uploaded all the episodes for me and I spent the next 3 days watching them, and by the time I was done I was head over heels in love with it. Though yeah, I pretty much fell for the show with the Pilot. And I didn't really like Sam yet, but when season 2 started a month later I fell SO HARD for Sam.

I too have been disappointed with the show itself in varying degrees during the last two seasons, but my love for the boys just keeps growing and growing. <333
