we'll fill our mouths with cinnamon

This morning I posted a ficlet about Kay Howard for halfamoon ( Shutdown), and on Sunday, Alan Sepinwall had a great post commemorating Homicide, aka, The Best Damn Show on Television, and honestly, in terms of American network television, I think maybe Friday Night Lights comes close, and the first two seasons of West Wing, and the first three seasons of ( Read more... )

the more I see of this show, the harder time I have seeing Peter in any combination that doesn't involve El in some very central way. I mean, if nothing else, who in that marriage would even be able to *guess* how a threesome works.

hee! Exactly!

And yay, thank you for linking to that Homicide post! I was never around for the fandom part of it, but God, I loved it so much.

*nod nod*

It was great to revisit it. I need to do a rewatch. Night of the Dead Living! A Many Splendored Thing! Every Mother's Son! Man, how so awesome, show? How so awesome?!

so it was totally a moment of, hey, who's that nerdily distinguished OMG, OMG HI BAYLISS

I was like, "HI TIMMEH HI!" And then I thought of Jake Kane as well, and missed the first season of Veronica Mars for a moment. *g*

i may or may not have started watching law & order: svu way back when because munch was in it. my mom got me into homicide and in return i got her into the x-files. and i have failed in every pimping attempt since.

i did indeed squee when i saw kyle secor's name on white collar. and then my first reaction to actually seeing him was "bayliss! what's up with your hair?" >.< but i really enjoyed seeing him on my tv screen again. and i lovelovelove that neal admitted to peter that peter's the only person he trusts, even if he had to be drugged to do it. and peter worries about him! (with good reason....) and el thinks the idea of peter flirting with anyone is really funny. i love how she coached him on the phone. they're my very favoritest married tv couple.

I watched the first season or so of SVU because of Munch, but it never held my attention. Munch didn't get to be as nutty as he was on HLotS. I don't know if that's changed over the years.

and then my first reaction to actually seeing him was "bayliss! what's up with your hair?"

hee!

they're my very favoritest married tv couple.

They're definitely up there with Coach and Mrs. Coach, I tell you what.

Indeed. You read my mind.

"You look . . . thirsty." Good one, Peter.

as I'm one of the crazy people who would take Peter over Neal, that would totally work on me. *g*

Oh, Homicide , I loved you so. When I saw Andre Braugher on House earlier this season, all that love came flooding back to me.

Yes, every time I see an HLOTS alum, I feel a warm glow of pleasure. Hell, even Callie Thorne doesn't make me want to throw up any more. (I probably can't say the same of Jon Seda, though.)

Peter and El are SO AWESOME OMG.

YESSSS! I like them a lot. I approve of good committed relationships on tv that are still interesting to watch because soooo many shows just have the on/off again couples and drama and like... variety please. And I love their dynamic - they seem fairly equal, unlike lots of tv marriages where one spouse is totally incompetent and the other is so awesome you wonder why they stick with that first loser (see: basically every sitcom ever).

Yeah, I can dig the will they/won't they thing for a few seasons, but it makes me happy to see mature, stable married couples on screen who don't seem to be in danger of breaking apart over silly OTT drama. Sigh.

*cries over Wash and Zoe*

There are really SO FEW stable married couples on tv! It's astonishing. For something that's such a big art of most people's lives, you'd think it would be represented more on screen.
