we're finally on our own

We have a mixed bag of stuff this morning.

Chuck made me very happy last night. And how AWESOME is Captain Awesome? I mean, seriously? I have nothing substantive to say. I just really enjoyed both episodes a lot. Also, ( spoilers )

tv: gilmore girls, writing: my stories, tv: chuck, music

I guess for me the appeal of Dean/Rory is that I found Rory herself less likable and more selfish with every passing season, so I like the reminder that she was once the girl who preferred the nice guy to the rich jerk, and who had time for Lane and cared about her mother and Stars Hollow. It's a nostalgia thing, and to some extent, it's nostalgia for something that never really existed, but hey, fanfic is all about the wishful thinking. And that Jared Padalecki guy is pretty cute. :)

Luke and Lorelai are a thousand times more awesome, but by the time the show ended, all I wanted for them was "...and they lived happily ever after," and I'm generally content to leave it at that.

I totally get that! But to me, her downward spiral into someone I disliked started with her sleeping with Dean while he was married, and then running off to Europe to avoid facing up to the consequences of her actions. So it's inextricably linked to Dean, and thus, colors my feelings about their relationship heavily.

Hee! I get that, but I think because I was so unhappy with the last two seasons that I really wanted more of them from the time when they were awesome together.

Damn it, Amy Sherman-Palladino. Damn you! I may never forgive you for as long as I live.

Why yes, I am still bitter. ;)

Seriously, so bitter that the series finale is still sitting on my Tivo waiting to be watched someday.

I think you and I generally agree about this, so there's not really much to say outside of my general hatred for the way they royally screwed with the show and with Luke and Lorelai as both individuals and a couple. I've also always been about the Rory/Jess, and I think future!Rory/Jess would be awesome. I was never the biggest Logan fan, anyway, and, well, you know how I feel about what they did with Dean and Rory; it was very close to what Lorelai's reaction was, actually.

It's a good thing I think Lauren Graham is hot or I wouldn't even have this icon. *g*

I am, too, though I am slowly getting over it. I think I want the awesomeness of the first few seasons to wash away the lingering bad taste and anger. I'm not sure it will work, or if I will just be all GRRRRR about knowing how things end up.

I actually watched it and was glad I did, because there were a couple of things in it that were PERFECT re: Lorelai and her parents, which when I stopped watching, Lorelai and Emily were the only two people I didn't want to kill, and Lorelai was only hanging on by a thread.

It's a good thing I think Lauren Graham is hot or I wouldn't even have this icon.

She's very hot. *g*

I replaced her and Luke with Coach and Mrs. Coach. Sigh. I can't even talk about my disappointment with FNL this season, but it's not the same as my comfort show for four years fucking me over in the last few seasons.

Oh dear, you know I had a split second of thinking you meant that suddenly the GG fandom was flooded with Dean WINCHESTER/Rory stories. Hahaha, beautiful! Rory/Jess is the only way for me. They spark. Hehe.

You know that GG is totally the fandom I cannot stop writing in (you know, in the way that I write a story about once every million years) and I *know* that's directly related to my obsession with Lorelai herself and the way the show shaped Luke as a character and then Luke/Lorelai together. I love her and I love him and what always worked for me was that it was a relationship where they, in the truest sense of the word, deserved each other, because they'd each been through a lot to become the people they were and then those people found each other and (sigh)!

Oh wow, you're totally going to motivate me to finish my giant, insane, U2-inspired Gilmore Girls WiP, aren't you?? ;)

(and, since I hated the April plotline so much I decided the only thing to do was to write some fic to fix it. How I Spent My Summer Vacation by ... )

Oh god, no!

Though I desperately want some Dean Winchester/Lorelai Gilmore porn. With excessive amounts of coffee and pop culture references!

I love her and I love him and what always worked for me was that it was a relationship where they, in the truest sense of the word, deserved each other, because they'd each been through a lot to become the people they were and then those people found each other and (sigh)I agree with this sentence. There was so much about them that fit, that they grew towards each other, which is what I found fascinating, and which is the opposite, to me, of Rory/Dean, who grew apart - Lorelai came to Stars Hollow and made a home - the whole point of her character arc is to stop running away, to find some way to commit, whereas for Rory, growing up means going away, leaving that home, etc. Which is why I didn't buy it when Luke and Dean had that moment of bonding about how ( ... )
