we're finally on our own

We have a mixed bag of stuff this morning.

Chuck made me very happy last night. And how AWESOME is Captain Awesome? I mean, seriously? I have nothing substantive to say. I just really enjoyed both episodes a lot. Also, Casey should kiss girls more often. Humina.

Here are the two songs I mentioned yesterday:

Love Is All Around by Joan Jett, which makes me think of many of my favorite female characters, but especially Cordelia. Possibly because of her positioning in "Birthday" as the new MTM.

And I defy you to tell me It's hard to be a saint in the city by Bruce Springsteen is not a Dean song. Obviously, I had it on the brain as I wrote the Dean/Kaylee.

Which leads me to the fact that there was fic yesterday for Dean's birthday:

them downtown boys sure talk gritty
Firefly/Supernatural; Kaylee/Dean; adult; 1,955 words
Kaylee ain't looking to be worshipped so much as fucked well and hard, and Dean looks like the kind of man who knows his way around a girl's nethers.

I had a lot of fun writing this, because Kaylee is awesome, and Dean is awesome, and I think they'd totally appreciate each other's awesomeness, hotness, happy attitude towards casual sex, and love of engines. I envision them totally having some no-strings attached same time/next year kind of relationship for a few years, and enjoying the hell out of each other.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments. I really appreciate it.

(Last year, I wrote The Near Occasion of Sin for Dean's birthday, which is first-time Wincest featuring some hot voyeurism on Sam's behalf, 'cause you know Sam likes to watch; and I wrote a story about Dean's (and Jess's) birthday a while back as well: It's My Birthday, Too, Yeah.)

Also, I was very much in a mood for "Greetings from Asbury Park" yesterday, so have some more Bruce:

Growin' Up
For You
Spirit in the Night
Blinded by the Light

You know, I get that a lot of people are picking up Gilmore Girls now because of Jared Padalecki (or, I suppose, Milo Ventimiglia), but man, it makes me sad that all the new fic is Rory/Dean, a pairing that, well, the nicest thing I can muster up is polite indifference. I'll refrain from saying more since I try not to bag on other people's pairings in public too much, and if you were reading my LJ when the show was actually airing, you probably got an earful of vitriol at some point or another. *cough* I even removed my Luke/Lorelai icon, which I loved.

I just wish there were more good Luke/Lorelai, possibly ignoring everything after "Raincoats and Recipes" (my canon ends there, thanks). I will probably be rewatching the first four seasons while the long hiatus is on, and I am hoping I can finally write some myself - I've always wanted to, but never quite managed. But since the show fucked it up so spectacularly, possibly I will be inspired.

But if the mood should take you, you should write some Luke/Lorelai for me.
