I have the best co-mods ever on remix_redux. I will be saying that a lot in the coming weeks.

Today is the day where you panic and I laugh. (I don't start panicking until late next week, when I am still missing stories and my pinch hits aren't written yet.)Of course, this would all be ever so much easier if LJ were moving faster than a drunk slug in a ( Read more... )

Regarding Dark Angel, Max's last name is given as Guevara (although IMDb has it listed as Guevera, so I'm not sure which is correct). Alec has no last name that I can recall, and IMDb has none listed. From what I understand, a sometimes-fanon convention is to also assign Alec the last name of Guevara/Guevera, which I personally dislike for a variety of reasons I'll explain if you ask me, but if you need a last name tag for him, you could use that. Or you could call him Alec/X5-494, which is how he's listed on IMDb and which would be familiar to DA fandomers and serve to distinguish him from the other Alecs being remixed.

Regarding Faith, I've never seen Buffy, but IMDb has no last name for her in either Buffy or Angel.

Off to double-check my tags now, heh. *nervous face*

That may be the route I choose. If there weren't another Alec, it wouldn't matter, but there is, so...

Heh. And your LJ cut-tag! Those are the important things!

The thing I am having a hard time figuring out is why so many people just do not seem to get the concept of tagging so that there is the category identifier: and then the specific, e.g., fandom: harry potter, character: remus lupin, character: sirius black, pairing: remus lupin/sirius black etc.

Not trying to be a wiseass, but it wasn't in the e-mail. I wouldn't have gotten it if I hadn't checked the tags to see how other people were handling a punctuation issue. You might want to post a note to the lounge and make the example story public.

And IMDB usually has character last names if they are canon.

P.S. Is pairing: gen a kosher tag or not? I thought I saw it earlier, but now it has disappeared.

I deleted it. It's unnecessary imo.

There's that too. I wonder how many of us thought the category identifier was just meant to illustrate the tag we need and be replaced with the specific rather than followed by the specific? I mean, when the logic was explained, I went, "Oh, of course! That makes sense for a multi-fandom challenge." Prior to that, though, I wouldn't have thought of it, even as a multi-fandom writer (partly because I don't really use tags). Funny the blind spots we get.

I noticed I forgot the category identifiers on mine. And I was being so careful to make sure I posted in exactly the right format so as not to create extra work. *headdesk*

I think it's because I use the "thing: specific name" format for bits and pieces of a story where I don't post the "thing" part, so my brain goes on auto-pilot and I do that with bits where I need the "thing" part. All I can say is, if I nab another pinch hit, I solemnly swear to remember to include the category identifiers.

Lehane came from, IIRC, one of the official Buffyverse roleplaying games. Joss said it. Its canon-ness is therefore debatable.

I don't... think I'm going to be late? But possibly I should tell you now, just in case I am. My attention span lately is not the greatest, nor is my ability to stay awake.

But I'm trying! So... yeah. Is a toss-up.

I suppose for tagging purposes I can accept it, but I still don't use it in my stories. *g*

There are 10.5 hours to go! You will be fine!

You know, when I was creating family_secret, I thought about you and the remix, and it had a huge impact on the kind of challenge I ultimately decided to run, and what the rules would be. On account of how I think if I had to go through this kind of stress, I wouldn't actually want to run the challenge anymore. I admire you for doing it. *g*

I am a cautionary tale for many, I think. *g*

And this year is *still* less work than the previous years.

if I had to go through this kind of stress, I wouldn't actually want to run the challenge anymore

I say that every year, and yet here I am, again. I am still not sure how that happens...

I admire you for doing it.

Thank you kindly.
