So since I worked for 23 days straight without a break, somehow I got persuaded to take a disorganized trip to Chicago (specifically, the Stranger House) for a Superbowl party.  Which was quite an amazing experience.  Apparently Aaron's family own's some sort of weird meat production facility, so we had buffalo burgers and elk brats (wasn't wild on ( Read more... )

You weren't aware the term "history" doesn't constitute a field of study for a PhD candidate???

it was a badly worded sentance, trying to bring across the idea that to some people, a degree means more than just a piece of paper. It means a pursuit towards specific goals and interesting ideas. Few people that I have contact with have this concept of actually having deeper ideas about their topic, and all of them are interesting people who i enjoy conversation with. a short list of examples would include: paul (minus any degree problems), drew, engel and bennett, but would not include myself.
